Final Fantasy XI: Return Home to VanaÂ’diel campaign

The Anniversary Ring is a powerful asset in FINAL FANTASY XI, as it gives players the chance to receive experience point bonuses and level jobs with ease.

The “Return Home to Vana’diel” campaign will be available to users between December 18th 2008 and April 15th, 2009.

Warrior Epic: new details revealed!

True Games Interactive, an international publisher of multi-player online games, revealed today new screen shots and key details for its highly anticipated Online action MMORPG, Warrior Epic. Developed by Austin-based studio Possibility Space, the game has already developed a growing community and will launch in Spring 2009.

True Games and Possibility Space today revealed details on the formerly ravaged and sunken land, Aberas, where players will begin their journey in Warrior Epic. Aberas will offer 20 unique zones, multiple PvP areas and randomized dungeons with infinite re-playability. For more information about Aberas and its story; from its people’s greed-driven exile to its triumphant return and its current state of war, raids and alliances and more, see below.

The story of Aberas
“Aberas is Risen!” the fisherman had yelled to shore. “We Are Forgiven! Maraendee be Praised!”

But his joyful words, uttered four centuries past and now remembered only in tarnished silver letters upon a crumbling temple wall, ultimately proved hollow. For while the sunken land of Aberas had indeed returned from the watery depths of the Great sea, the exiled Sumanti Tribe, children of the sea goddess Maraendee, had not been forgiven.

Greed had been their downfall; greed and a lack of respect for the bounty Maraendee provided. The Sumanti took more from Her than was offered; so as payment She took from them Aberas, the land they called home. Shamed, the Sumanti wandered homeless and penitent until the fateful day ruined Aberas rose again.

“We Are Forgiven!” came the refrain as the sundered Sumanti returned, expecting forgiveness and salvation. But gone were the lush forests; gone were the rolling plains; and gone were the bountiful waters. Because in truth… gone was Maraendee. Had she fled? Had she died? Even the prophets knew not. But no longer engulfed by Her will, Aberas had re-emerged as a devastated, godless wasteland.

Their faith shaken, the Sumanti nonetheless returned, sorting through soggy rubble with dreams of rebuilding an empire. But despite breakthroughs of magic and science that promised to fill the void left by their missing Goddess, their attempts to re-colonize Aberas ultimately proved futile, and the Sumanti and their Cult of Maraendee are now little more than memory.

But times change and wounds heal: dense jungle now covers twice-ruined Aberas. Civilization has slowly returned, encroaching upon the fallen land with mixed emotions. Newer — lesser — Gods battle over the forgotten empire, vying for power with the pawns called Men. To the south lies Providence, a glimmering ray of order and hope for the weakened Alliance, desperate for a stable trade route to sustain them after years of struggle. But Northlander raids devastate the land and strange creatures haunt her borders.

And into this world of turmoil and strife come rumors of a new threat, for the fishermen no longer shout for joy, but whisper in terror: “Maraendee has returned…”

Following their experiences in Aberas, players will venture to three other varied and intriguing lands including the dark and foreboding swamps of the Trogken people, the sacred, monk-protected lands of Welken Warrens and the eerie, skeleton tree-lined ruins of Faustus Estate. Stay tuned for details on each of these exciting lands in January 2009.

Atlantica opens up new world

The world of Atlantica Online just got bigger. The strategic, turn-based MMORPG that sends players on a journey around the globe opened up the Western Hemisphere to be explored.

NDOORS Interactive has expanded the game with its first major content upgrade, dubbed the “Next Frontier.” For the past month since the game launched, Atlantica adventurers have battled and explored some of the ancient civilizations of the Eastern Hemisphere. Now they will cross the oceans into the Americas, where they will encounter monsters drawn from the myths and legends of the American Old West and Aztecs. In addition to new geographic regions being added, new mercenaries will be made available. The level cap has also been increased from 100 to 120.

“The world of Atlantica is vast and open to all sorts of possibilities,” said Peter Kang, CEO, NDOORS Interactive. “This is just the first of what we envision to being many significant content additions for the game. There is still much more of Atlantica’s domain to open up, like South America and Oceania, and still many more civilizations and legends that we will draw on to serve as the backdrop for future quests and characters.”

North America is where the bulk of the new areas will be found. In Detroit, players will face monsters that will try to rock their world. Then in Dallas they will come across a saloon where players can expect, like any good Western, a barroom brawl. A new guild dungeon will be found on Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay. There will also be several new dungeons added to existing regions, such as China.

The first two B Class mercenaries will be introduced. These more powerful and difficult to acquire mercenaries are the Spartan and the Sailor. This new class will keep with the theme of mercenary upgrades being based on actual figures from human history. The Spartan can be upgraded to Leonidas, the legendary king who led the Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae. The Sailor can ultimately become Anne Bonny, the infamous female pirate. To obtain the Sailor mercenary, players will travel to the Caribbean and complete quests, one of which will require them to fight for their lives against Davy Jones.

New content has also been added as part of a Christmas event. For a limited time, players can go on a special quest that will take them to Santa’s Villa. Good old St. Nick isn’t so jolly in this villa, however, forcing players to battle some nasty holiday creatures. By completing this quest, players can obtain items like a Santa’s hat and an antler’s hat that comes with a nose that will light them through dark situations, just like Rudolph. Other items that will be made available through this event are products found in the Item Mall.

SOE brings holiday cheer to virtual worlds

WHAT:
Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) decks the virtual halls again this holiday season with in-game activities and festive themed events in many of its online video games. This December, EverQuest® and EverQuest® II players will enjoy the annual Frostfell celebration, including a special event in the Legends of Norrath virtual trading card game. Not to be outshone by its Norrathian counterpart, Vanguard Saga of Heroes is celebrating the holiday season in the online world of Telon, and in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Galaxies players will enjoy the spectacular experience of Wookiee Life Day.

In-game events are as follows:

EverQuest® II: Frostfell, the celebration of kinship and giving, has once again arrived in Norrath spanning from Dec. 11, 2008, to Jan. 5, 2009. Players are invited to enjoy the Frostfell Wonderland Village through the Magic Closets in Qeynos Harbor, West Freeport, Haven, Kelethin, Neriak and Gorowyn. Players can also gather presents to craft wondrous new Frostfell goodies to add to their collections. The festivities also include a daily present from everyone’s favorite Frostfell Gigglegibber, Santa Glug!

EverQuest®: In the Plane of Knowledge, the impending Frostfell celebrations have been ruined by a spate of thievery, and it is up to the players to save the celebration. Many families have been awakened by ruffians and monsters breaking into their homes and carrying off with presents intended for the children of the Realm. Although the celebrants of Frostfell have certainly put up with greater adversity than this, the denial of even a small measure of lightness and joy to these weary Norrathians is too much to bear. Players are needed to help track down the monsters who committed these crimes and return the missing presents.

Not only must the stolen gifts be retrieved, but also it’s clear that the thievery is part of a larger conspiracy to destroy the institution of Frostfell, a joyous and uplifting occasion. An ice goblin named Freezkorr, whose evil Frostclaw clan has captured Santug Claugg and his Gigglegibber assistants, must be defeated, or Norrathians everywhere may have seen their last Frostfell celebration!

Star Wars Galaxies: Wookiee Life Day returns this year with new events, items and activities that are sure to lift your holiday spirits to galactic proportions! Wookiee Life Day festivities began Dec. 16, 2008, and conclude on Jan. 13, 2009, in the cities of Dearic, Doaba Goerfel and Wayfar and will include new quests, pets and items inspired directly by the Star Wars®Holiday Special, such as a new wroshyr tree house decoration and a painting of Chewbacca’s family. New quests include a search for missing candy from TK-555, the fat stormtrooper from Empire Day, who will reward you with a brand-new speeder that is making its first appearance in SWG.

Legends of Norrath: From Dec. 15, 2008, to Jan. 9, 2009, all Legends of Norrath players will have a chance to experience a new and exciting event called Saving Frostfell, with prizes and goodies for everyone who completes the scenario.

Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game: Celebrate Wookie Life Day in the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game! From Dec. 24, 2008, to Jan. 4 2009, all Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game players will have access to a new scenario, with special reward cards for the winners.

Vanguard Saga of Heroes: The Festival of Gloriann returns to the world of Telon this holiday season! Once a year during the wintery months, towering trees adorned with lights can be seen glittering within the cities of Telon. Players can take a tour over the rooftops of Telon while riding on Randolph, the flying reindeer mount.

The Matrix Online: It is time for the fourth-annual Winter Holiday Celebration in The Matrix Online! During this period, snow will be falling in the Mega City and Snowman, and Holiday Helper Vendors will be around to help you get into the holiday spirit.
This Winter Holiday, operatives can enjoy the gift of sharp new clothing items: “Formal Shoes” and “Winter Coats” for men, and “Formal Skirts” and “Winter Shirts” for women, all available in black and white versions. Those operatives skilled at defeating the giant Snow Simulacra may find an additional holiday-themed clothing item.

WHEN/WHERE: Winter Holiday-themed events are scheduled to take place in the virtual worlds of your favorite SOE games. Exact dates vary by title.
