Voyage Century: Open the Golden Gate

After a long, long wait, the America continent will be finally available to our players. Steer your cool vessels to one of these ports and see what the new world has to offer you. Seward San Francisco, Cruz, Salinas, San Diego, and Magellan will be all available to our players.

Seward

Seward is located on the west coast of Alaska. Though it is far north, it is an ice-free port. Further to the west is the Bering Strait. This port is famous for lumber, fishing and the gold and silver brought in from nearby mines.

San Francisco

Occupying just 48 hilly square miles at the tip of a slender peninsula, it’s almost perfectly centered along the Californian coast. Arguably the most beautiful, and certainly the most liberal city in the US, it remains true to itself: a funky, individualistic, surprisingly small, but dense city whose people pride themselves on being the cultured counterparts to their cousins in LA ? the last bastion of civilization on the lunatic fringe of America.

Cruz

Constructed in 1540AD, it is a very important trade port to the north of Colombia. The altitude of this city is 33 meters above sea level, so the wide meadows have never been affected by the tide.

Salinas

Salinas, considered as the original source of the Mayan civilization, is always a mysterious place for us. Vast forests containing large numbers of ferocious wild creatures live here. In addition, mines producing ample amounts of rare ore have attracted a lot of adventurers, however it’s been said that many of the adventurers who came to this place haven’t returned home yet.

San Diego

San Diego lies in the center of the Santiago Basin, a large bowl-shaped valley consisting of a broad and fertile plain surrounded by mountains. Santiago was founded by Spanish on February 12, 1541 with the name Santiago del Nuevo Extremo, as a homage to Saint James and Extremadura, Valdivia’s birth place in Spain. The founding ceremony was held on Huelén Hill (later renamed Cerro Santa Lucía). Valdivia chose the location of Santiago because of its climate, abundant vegetation and the ease with which it could be defended-the Mapocho River then split into two branches and rejoined further downstream, forming an island.

Magellan

The Straits of Magellan c.330 mi (530 km) long and 2 1/2 to 15 mi (4-24 km) wide, separates South America from Tierra del Fuego and other islands south of the continent. Except for a few miles at its eastern end in Argentina, the strait passes mainly through Chile. The strait, discovered by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520, was important in the days of sailing ships, especially before the building of the Panama Canal and is still used by ships rounding South America. One of the most scenic waterways in the world, it affords an inland passage protected from almost continuous ocean storms in the region. However, the strait is often foggy and it’s twists and turns can be deadly. The major city on the strait is Punta Arenas, on the mainland.

EVE Online: Apocrypha Uncovers a New Version of the Universe Itself

CCP, one of the world’s leading independent game developers, today announced the launch of the tenth free expansion for EVE Online, its popular science fiction massively multi-player online game (MMOG). EVE Online: Apocrypha is the most ambitious EVE expansion in the game’s over five year history and it coincides with the March 10th, 2009 release of EVE Online as a boxed product through a partnership with Atari.

The fabric of space itself will be transformed as vast, unpredictable wormholes open to connect previously unexplored regions of the universe to the stars of New Eden. The seeds of advanced new technology await inside of these cosmic anomalies for those brave enough to explore them. This infusion of technology will enable production of the most dynamic vessels ever Tech 3 modular ships with an astounding amount of customizability that can fill any role from skirmish muscle to industrial support.

Furthermore, NPC agents in EVE Online: Apocrypha will be authorized to assign Epic Mission Arcs to the pilots of New Eden. These branching, far-reaching mission strings are full of meaningful stories and more intelligent and deadly adversaries.
In addition, we are offering an entirely reworked New Player Experience for those joining (or rejoining) the game giving them better insight into how to thrive in a truly limitless universe.

We’ve already launched EVElopedia, a great repository for information on all things EVE where our players are also building their own living history of the previous five years of Alliance warfare, political intrigue and nostalgic recollection.

“Just this past week we broke our concurrent user record with 45,186 people flying unbound in the same game world at the same time, a huge percentage of our quarter of a million current subscribers and a true testament to EVE in our sixth year of operation,”
said EVE Online Senior Producer Torfi Frans Olafsson. “Today is an unprecedented time to start playing, as you can get ahead of the curve before Apocrypha releases in stores and our hard work hits the server cluster. It’ll be easier than ever to get ‘lost in the wormhole’ that is EVE with what we have planned for the future of our expanding universe.”

Leading up to the release of EVE Online: Apocrypha and the boxed version of EVE Online in stores, we’ll be revealing more features on https://secure.eve-online.com/redir.asp?aid=104770.

Availability:
EVE Online: Apocrypha will be available at retail stores across the galaxy in March this year and as a free download for existing subscribers. A new Premium graphics client for Mac will also be included in the retail box.

Wonderland Online: Upgrade Strategy

Players in Wonderland Online can be reborn once their level reaches 100, and it’s not difficult to do if you know the upgrade strategy. Some players in WL provided with a good strategy for players in different level.

Level 1-Level 10: Train in Kelan Cave, where you can use a remote control to kill stone monsters. You’d better bring enough HP potions and equip your Roca. However, if you want to upgrade quicker when you reach level 6, then you can go defeat the Tree monsters in Kelan or the Rabbit and Dragonfly in North Island.

Level 10-Level 15: Train in Chicken Farm near Welling Village. You’d better team up with your fellow players, prepare enough HP and SP potions and then use a remote control to AFK. You can also kill chickens outside the chicken farm if you are alone.

Level 15-Level 25: Kill beetles on South Island and you can get many fruits which can restore HP and SP. Players can also go to kill vultures in the south, which will get you more EXP. But you’d better choose a suitable element to kill. (For example: Fire kills Wind, Wind kills Earth, Earth kills Water and Water kills Fire.)

Level 25-Level 45: Train at Pine. Go inside and kill the Tender Cirrus, who has no element (3) and they will not use combo attacks. You should prepare enough HP and SP potions. The bow is also the best choice to upgrade for primary players.

Level 45-Level 50: Train at Stoowa Isle, where you can kill spirit monsters without pets. But if your pets can make combo attacks with you, you can equip them. You can get quite a lot of EXP.

Level 50-Level 60: Kill Foxes in Japan. Generally speaking, there are always 3 foxes that can use primary fire combo attack per fight. You’d better prepare enough HP, SP potions and equip pets and you should also pay attention to your HP during the fight.

Level 60-Level 80: Kill snow wolves and bears in the South Pole. We suggest you team up with fellow players and use a bow. Wolf’s teeth can be obtained after killing wolves, which is not only a good material to compound but can also be sold to NPCs for 20 GOLD each.

Level 80-Level 100: Kill Trolls in the cave behind Kyoto. You’d better team up for this one too! Players can get more EXP and may also get mysterious dropped items.

Note: Players should adjust STR and AGI properly. For STR, you can stop adding points if you can kill the trolls together with your team members. It’s more critical to add AGI points. All your AGI should be close to both team members and all pets so as to get a higher combo attack rate which can bring you more EXP.

BOTS Review: Beat Up Evil Robots

By Eline Stiekema, Onrpg Writer

The scenario of this robot MMO is quite simple: there has been some horrible disruption in Cyberspace, which has turned normal bots into evil viruses which must be defeated. Players must team up with their bots in order to get this done. When they have destroyed all the viruses in a zone, they earn ‘gigas’, the game currency which can buy you items to enhance your bot.

Getting Started

I had some problems starting things up: at first I got a lot of errors, for eaxmple not being able to connect to the server. Luckily, this could be solved with the FAQ. Also, if you want to play BOTS from your browser, it only runs on Internet Explorer. For all users of other browsers, to avoid this problem you can also start from a shortcut on your desktop.

It took me quite a while to figure the game out. I expected some kind of tutorial to help me get the hang of it, but no such thing seemed to exist. The only way to practice your fighting skills, is to start your own room and select the first level, ‘training ground’. I had to find this out all by myself though. All the game information is on the website, so you can’t quickly check some things between rounds. To make matters worse, the game guide on the website wasn’t really helpful. It offers information on a lot of topics concerning the game, but a step-by-step instruction is missing. I had to check the BOTS-forum for this, where one of the users had taken the time to write one.

Bots Gameplay

It all starts with choosing a bot. There are three different basic bots to choose from, each with its own advantages. Basically they are all equal in power.

When entering the game, players can choose between four different channels, each with a minimum of one and a maximum of one hundred players: Open 1-3 and International. Inside, the channels look roughly the same. Players can choose between a variety of different rooms or start a room themselves.

Starting a room yourself can turn out well because you will be able to play on your own level. Other rooms often have different levels. Do not think you will able to play along when the level is higher than yours: you will be killed no matter what and spend the rest of the round watching others beat each other to pieces.

This I found rather disappointing: when you are dead, there is nothing left to do but wait until the game is over. You cannot revive unless you buy a ‘revival pack’ or one of your teammates owns one and is kind enough to bring you back to life. You also cannot easily escape from the battle once you are out. Since the battles can last pretty long (I once got myself into a level 98-battle by accident, got killed and saw that I had to wait 29 minutes until it was over) there’s nothing left to do but pressing ctrl-alt-del when you are really fed up with it. Moral of the story: stick to your own level!

Also note that when you have started your own room, you must remain active and start a game straight away. When you don’t, you will get a warning and if you do not respond to that, you will be ‘forced out of the room for inactivity’. This happened to me several times and it really pissed me off.

But okay, when you actually start battling against those robots, it’s really fun. You can play alone or with others. I liked that you can play on your own: no waiting until somebody finally enters your little level 1-room, you can take all the time you need to get the hang of it.

I also really liked the ‘transform’-function: every minute or so, you can transform for a few seconds into a big, intimidating robot which can cause much more damage to your enemies. But that’s the only special function: when you haven’t acquired the ‘gigas’ to enhance your bot, it stays pretty basic, with only one way of attacking. When you kill a virus, though, you can grab ‘drops’ that give you special powers, like recovering from damage.

There are three different modes to play in: sector mode, in which you have to beat viruses, player vs. player mode, in which you have to beat other players, and base mode, which is similar to player vs. player mode except that you have to defend your own base and try to destroy that of your enemy.

Sector mode is by far the most popular. There were only a few player vs. player rooms at the times I was online, and I didn’t see a room in base mode once.

When you or your team has won and the viruses or opposing team members are defeated, you earn gigas, which you can spend on stuff to make your bot stronger, faster and more dangerous. But… there’s a big ‘but’.

Enhancing your bot

Here it comes: you can earn a whole lot of gigas, but the amount of stuff you can spend them on is very limited. Most of the items in the shop can only be purchased with actual money that you put on an account to spend in the game. As a result of the split between gigas and account-money, items that cost money cannot be purchased with gigas, and vice versa. I read on the forum that in the future there will be more items that can be purchased with gigas, so let’s hope this will happen soon. Purchased items can also be sold to or traded with other players, which seems like an interesting arrangement, especially in higher levels.

Personal recommendation

I had some fun playing the first few levels, but I was quickly bored with it because there was so little my basic bot could do. It would have been more interesting with more features during combat. All you can do is attack, be attacked and sometimes transform into a bigger robot, and the chances of enhancing your bot are slim because there’s not much you can buy with earned gigas.

I also was really annoyed when I got kicked out of my own room a couple of times, just because I was scribbling some things down or getting myself a drink. When another player then took over my room and changed the level from 3 to 98, I gave up.
BOTS is nice when you want to beat up some evil robots as a form of anger management, but I don’t think I will be playing it anymore.

Pros:

– It’s simply fun to beat up robots and win

– The ‘transform’-option is really cool

Cons:

– A lot of technical errors: starting up gave difficulties, the trade function and the cash shop were out of order…

– No tutorial or step-by-step instruction

– When you die during the game, you can’t come back unless you buy the ‘revival pack’

– You can get kicked out of your own room very easily

– There is not much you can spend earned gigas on.

Myth War II Online: Pet Details and Game Music #5

At first sight, most warriors falter, terrified of their impending death. Or if you happen to be one of the lucky ones who have fought with a dragon, you know they are a warrior’s dream. With a dragon at your side, you are unbeatable. Today, the people from the Myth War Online team are spreading the news about these regal pets.

Dragon Pet Animation
Dragons, a myth shared by all cultures, are symbolic of the principle of terrifying force. With these beasts on your side, combat will never be as difficult as it seemed before.

Bog Nightmare
They are ruthless, and the most dangerous animals to roam the swamps. They have high anti chaos and are their own masters. You must nail everything, including your gear and combat skills before heading out to have a hard hitting fight against them to make them your pet. If you emerge victorious, it’s worth it in the end because Bog Nightmare’s possess fabulous combat abilities and deal a tremendous amount of damage to their opponents

Demon Dragon
They have three heads and live in Demon Square. They are merciless creatures with hearts of stone. Once engaged in combat, they will battle it out to teach you a lesson you’ll never forget. With high fire resistance, STR and AGI rate, they are a perfect choice to kill your opponents quickly. But with so many warriors seeking them, their numbers have dropped to almost nothing.

Game Music Recommendation
1. http://flv.iggcn.com/mw2/mp3/Mus025.mp3
It is a nice melodic arrangement played in the Christmas Spirit. The magical power of the music evokes feelings of a spectacularly beautiful Christmas Carol, the best music to listen to while questing in game and celebrating the holidays.

2. http://flv.iggcn.com/mw2/mp3/Mus016.mp3
The melody itself is phenomenal. This New Year’s song is teamed with the swinging rhythm befitting the mood of a New Year’s party.
