Project of Planets Interview: Combining Mechs and FPS

Questions by Rickee Charbonneau (Jammart), OnRPG Journalist
Answered by Terry Jin

Terry Jin of the Project of Planets team graced us at Onrpg with a very detailed interview. This specific article will answer diverse questions about the game, and seeing as it is not so widely known, this is the ultimate tool to lean further about this unique game. So what is so interesting about this game? “So far POP is the only game which has a good integration of those 2 features in a single game.  No matter you are a fan of Mech games, or an FPS game lover, you will find yourself a place in it” said Terry. Unique combination for a free MMORPG!

Onrpg: Simply put, what is this game all about? Why do you think it will be a success?
In brief – Project of Planets (POP) is a 3D MMORPG, also featured as a Mech game with combined FPS (First Person Shooter) and TPS (Third Person Shooter) modes.  Moreover, it’s a game that is free to play and enjoy. We always found it difficult to describe the game well in short words.

Personally, I am having great confidence and expectations on POP. Especially from some interesting features the game possesses:
FPS mode is definitely one of my favorites. Players would be able to patrol and fight through the TPS (Third Person Shooter) mode. But when necessary, switch into FPS mode immediately, sneak, snipe and enjoy the unique shooting experience. I haven’t played any other Mech games like this before…

PoP FPS mode Close Up

Mech is one of the sci-fi themes that are very popular among the world players. Being a Mech fan, I won’t just stay satisfied by reading or watching some Mech materials as an audience. Just imagining sitting myself “inside” the Mech body, patrolling, rushing and shooting things will really cheer me up.

PVP (Player Vs Player) function is underway. We are planning to introduce PVP in very near future. We will offer various kinds of combat mode, such as 1v1, 2v2 and even more. Players will be allowed to take those battles in special Arenas. Much less rules and more fun – I am looking forward to trying that out with a bunch of friends.

CEP (Compose, Enhance and Plug-in) mode – the unlimited evolution for your Mech’s equipments. Looking forward to the ultimate weapon and Mechbody? Here you go! CEP offers the full evolution of all your equipments, and it’s totally your own style.

I just love this special mechanism – allow me a few more words on that. It’s aiming at upgrading your equipments to the limit all the time, and through various ways. You can Compose and always be able to combine two equipments under the same class to the next level, and it applies to all the current 5 classes that we have released. You Mech will be strengthened by obtaining a random new attribute and upgrading its rate of quality. Electromagnetic Resistance, Hit Rating, Counter Strike and Damage Absorb will be gained and improved. It’s not the best part yet – if you are not satisfied with the new attributed obtained, you can downgrade your Mech to the former class, wiping off the old one and have another try for your favorites.

Enhance will really give you the opportunity to increase the attribute value! There are 12 levels now for enhancement. You can choose your own focus in terms of upgrading. It brings great difference to your Mech’s battle power. In addition, when enhancing your weapon to a certain level, there will be aura glowing around it, it’s pretty cool.

Apart from Compose and Enhance, you will also be able to strengthen your mech by using “Plug-in“. There are 10 slots on your Mechbody, and you can embed your plug-in items there, thus the extra attributes will be obtained. The better the plug-in items is, the more the quality would be raised. And, rumor from the underground scientists is – if you plug-in items are following a secret order and meeting a specific requirement, there will be something really unexpected for your Mech…

Onrpg: What sets apart Project of Planets from conventional MMOS?
There are few Mech theme MMOs, and there are fewer FPS MMOs. So far POP is the only game which has a good integration of those 2 features in a single game.  No matter you are a fan of Mech games, or an FPS game lover, you will find yourself a place in it. The experience will be unique, and you can definitely expect more when you play a bit more.

Onrpg: It has been brought to my attention via the official website that you host a great deal of events in this testing phase! What kind of events do players seem to prefer the most, and what other events do you hold regularly?
Glad that you have noticed those events. We always encourage the interaction among all the players. The experience has been interesting so far for players, as well as our game masters.

Mech Sporting Competition – players will be able to demonstrate their controlling skills towards their own Mech bodies, and they could compete with others. The winner will be awarded special items in the game.

Bosses Killing Events – In certain area and certain time period, there will be some special bosses refreshed randomly.

Where is GM Effi Events – In another event, 1 of our game masters would sneak into a few secret spots on the wide map, players would spread out immediately and searching for the GM. The first one who found the GM will also get the award.

Regular events – We also have regular weekend events. Players will gain 300% experience in Base Abergate and Base Karl, 200% experience in Cross River Plain. Between every Friday 0:00- Sunday 0:00 PST. Also the drop rates for certain items will be adjusted upwards in the same time. No matter you are a newbie or skillful veteran, you will find fun in our various events.

PoP Teamwork Victory

Onrpg: What are you currently developing for this game? What can players expect to see in the game in the near future? In the late future?
In a very close release we will enable the PVP function, together with the Arena maps. Players will be able to play 1v1 or 2 v2 for combat. Also, the legion war will be opened soon. Each legion will have its own territories and be able to defend that with iron and blood (or say oil?)… Looking bit further into the future, I would say there is much more fun coming through. Will you be interested if your own Mech is able to transform? Or exploring in some real huge maps? Or leveling up your own Mech towards higher levels, with more advanced functions and various scenarios? Well, you really got me started on the future topic. But the confidentially policy prevents me from revealing too much at this moment. The current POP is exciting enough, so I would suggest starting with all the current features before it’s getting big and complicated…Do you think it a good idea?

Onrpg: What makes PVP interesting in this MMO? Any unique features for PVP lovers out there?
On top of my mind, the combination of TPS and FPS would be a very interesting experience for players. The tricky part is to learn how to switch between FPS and TPS to maximize the damage towards your enemies.  Also, when playing PVP, players need to learn and develop all the skills appropriately, combining gliding in the right timing. All above would require sophisticated skills in controlling the Mech. When expanding PVP from 1v1, players will be able to experience many other battle forms, including multiple PVPs to gain special game ranks, or well structured Team Vs Team. Also, we will be activating Legion War in the future. The scale and complexity of the PVP mode will be largely increased by then.

Onrpg: Could you offer us a little info on the context of this game? Is there any particular storyline?
I won’t bring much detail here. In short the battle took place between alien and human being. Human being liked to fight among themselves a lot, that just lead to wars instead of real development… Until a day all human were driven underground by the alien invasion, and they stayed underground ever since, united and fought back, until a day the Nerve Conduction Nuclear Mech technology was invented… You may also find the whole story on our official website.

PoP Spaceship

Onrpg: What is the POP Words Polishing Project?
I touched that a bit just now. During the series of tests, we just sensed the strong passion from the POP players. They helped to test the game, challenged the game settings and provided many suggestions to improve the game. They just love the game as much as we do, sometimes even more… POP Words Polishing Project came just from that circumstance. Our players are having high standards on the Mech terminologies; they won’t tolerate any tiny flaws in specific wordings of the game. With the appreciation on the players’ requests, also an effort to meet our players’ criteria, we kicked off this project in August 2009. Players keep providing their findings and suggestions, game masters collect them and we make final judgment. The project is an ongoing effort. And of course, the players’ efforts has been recognized and awarded with honor and well designed game items. The outcome so far is just great. We found players are more than happy to help on this. Many clauses were polished and help guides being updated. And we liked this model so much that we are applying it to the other games as well.

Onrpg: How do battles take place in Project of Planets?
Once you are out of the base, just be prepared for battles at anytime! Choosing the right weapon, bullet, laser or EM that matches your own Mech, carrying as much ammo as the Mech is able to load, putting your finger on the trigger all the time to fight the alien invaders. Set out deep into the plains, mountains and desert, or adventure special battlefields like Alien zones, go solo or in a team, higher or lower your view when necessary, or open FPS directly, you can define your own way to fight! Just feel free to enjoy the fierce battle, whirl of energy, fatal explosions, and the collapse of your enemies’ Mech…

Onrpg: How do you treat newbies in the game?
There have been some special treatments for newbies in the game.

Underground Base for newbies – if you ever joined any earlier versions of the game, you won’t find such a place called underground base. We designed the whole base especially for the newbies. In the current version, underground base is the first stop for every new player. There are plenty of guiding tasks teaching you how to equip and fight. You will learn how to glide as well as shooting in FPS. And once you are qualified for surviving in “real” world, there will be a task sending you out…

Newbie Parcel – a fortune for the newbies. It’s lucky to be newbies now in the game, you will be offered with a parcel including Armors and recovery items. Those nice equipments won’t need to be replaced before you reach level 15. Also, you will be able to use the parcel when you reach level 5, 15, 25, 35. Each time there is surprise

Onrpg: What would you say that the learning curve is in the game?
For basic Mech operating skills, with the help of the guiding tasks in the Underground Base, along with our player manuals, a new user will learn most of the knowledge when reaching level 7. The rest part will need further experience in game and interactions with other players.

PoP Controller Skills

Onrpg: What are the many landscapes of the game?
Earth landscapes filled with desire to revive the human civilization. After the alien invasion, the human civilization was once exterminated. Under that atmosphere, we will be able to patrol our Mech in huge human base, wide desert, steep valleys, abandoned mines, ruined cities, alien regions and large space cabins.

Onrpg: What kinds of actions do you make to ensure that players love this game?
The game is free to play. Players will be able to survive and play with minimum costs. Also, hunting brings not only equipments and experiences, there are opportunities for players to get P-Points through that, with those points they would be able to purchase special items in the Item Mall. And you know we host a lot of events – regular ones and those surprises, all are well planned to bring different experiences for players

Onrpg: Have you modified anything in-game so far according to player’s interest? If so, what?
The Underground Base is a best sample that we offer tailor made service for our newbies. Also the ongoing Word Polishing Project is receiving nice feedbacks. In addition, the Item Bin capacity will be expanded to bring practical benefits for players.

Onrpg: What plans do you have for this game’s payment? P2P, B2P, F2P, item mall?
We offer F2P for this game, and our Item Mall will open shortly. Apart from shopping in Wal-Mart, getting some fancy items for your own Mech will also be nice, isn’t it?

PoP Orefield

Onrpg: When do you plan to fully release Project of Planets? Any specific dates in mind?
Well, we do plan to raise the max level by end of the year, vertically there needs to be more challenges, players just love that all the time. Also, we plan to expand the maps with new tasks and battlefields; we hope our players will have more variety of choices in the game. In terms of fully release, we just wouldn’t use that term in our games. The game grows along with the players together. It’s a living thing in our eyes. We will manage the release frequency with a balance of the content for each new version.

Onrpg: thank you for your time!

Be careful of what you read!

By Joshua Temblett (Dontkillmydreams), OnRPG Journalist

Around two years ago Gamespot.com did a review of “Kane and Lynch” which was published by Eidos, the famed Lara Croft developers.  Unfortunately the publisher had signed a very expensive deal to advertise on the website.  The game was given a score of 6/10 by one of the websites chief reviewers.  As the rumours say, Eidos didn’t like this game score and forced Gamespot to fire the reviewer.  No one knows whether or not this is true, neither does anyone know about the deal or what exactly happened.  All people really knew was that some publishing company may, or may not, have been pushing their weight around.

Gamespot lost a lot of its respect from the gaming community that day.  People understood that this incident may or may not have occurred but it was the idea and thought of such a thing happening that shocked people.  Sure we have known for a while about publishers trying to push journalists around with regards to reviews; however this incident bought a lot more attention to these scandals.

As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now, Eidos is apparently at it again with their new game “Batman: Arkham Asylum”.  The game is apparently quite good, not AAA quality but playable.  So then the question has to be asked as to why the publisher would ruin the game’s reputation like this and have very little faith in the product itself.  The story goes that Eidos has sent out the review code to various websites and publications who now have to sit on their reviews until the embargo date on the game is lifted.  This is fine, this is normal practice in the video game industry; however there is a turning point.  Eidos have apparently said that if any magazine gives the game a 90% score or above, and dedicates the cover of the magazine to the game, then the publisher in question will allow the magazine to run the review early.

So basically the publisher is score fixing.  From what I’ve heard I can almost guarantee you that the game will receive 7s/8s.  The game is said to be good, but perhaps not up to the “variety and depth of other games”.  Once again though, we do not know for certain how true these claims are.  The publisher has come out with this statement by their head of marketing, Jon Brooke stating that no such thing happened: “With regards an article posted on RamRaider alleging that Eidos has fixed review scores for Batman: Arkham Asylum, we want to state that no discussions have been held about review scores with any magazines,”.  Yet who can we believe?  RamRaider, the independent blog that has been correct about a few of its rumours, or Eidos the company that everyone believes is committing constant scandal?

Whether or not this is true, it’s interesting to look at.  Some publishers seem to just go with the flow of reviews, whereas others try to fight them.  The one thing you have to understand is that video game journalism can be a very messed up place.  It’s a world full of exclusive rights, and bargaining with publishers.  For you see these people who are trying to sell their games know the power that writers have, be they on blogs, magazines or professional websites.  They need positive buzz around their game, so that it can get successful sales.  You have to remember the video game industry is very high risk.

Video games nowadays cost millions of dollars to make, and I know what you’re thinking.  You’re thinking that it’s the same with the movie industry, and you’re correct.  However movies have two chances to make money, they can make money in the cinema and then they have a second life with DVDs, whereas games only really have one chance and that’s when they launch.  So publishers need the positivity.  Another thing to keep in mind is that there are generally a lot of games to choose from on the market.  Some very good games (sleeper hits) can get lost in the pack, so game makers need to distinguish their games from the rest and a positive review from a well established publication will create that.

Make sure you’re aware of the industry and what’s going on, and make sure you don’t fall into a trap when buying games and, in this economic climate more than ever, you’ve got to be careful about what you spend your money on.  Check lots of reviews when deciding to buy a game; don’t just follow one person’s opinions.

We as consumers don’t see a lot of what goes on behind the scenes and, believe it or not, there are a lot of back hand deals being made to scam you out of your money.  You work hard for your money, you don’t want to have some greedy company to take away what you’ve earned.  Whilst the video games industry may seem beautiful and full of wonderful bright lights and technical gadgetry, it’s really not.  There’s constant pressure (more so than any other industry) to achieve.

I think one of the points of this article is to make sure that you’re aware of the pressure that both journalists and the games industry have on them.  With regards to the rumour about Eidos fixing “Batman: Arkham Asylum”, I guess we’ll find out if they’re true when a games magazine has the Batman on their front cover, and gives it 90% or higher.

Wolfteam Interview: Variation from Standard FPS

Questions by Alex Beck, Onrpg Journalist
Answered by Wolf Team Product Manager

So you’re playing an average human with your standard machine gun racing around the corner avoiding bullets at all costs when suddenly that soldier you were just dodging gunfire from transforms into a wolf and comes racing towards you in a fury of claws…Wait..What?? Wolf Team is a free 3d MMOFPS in which you can transform into a wolf at the press of a button and change back at your own will. Up to 16 players at a time can be put against each other in an all out fight to survive! After seeing this you’re probably wanting to know more and we’ve managed to put the battles on hold for a few minutes while we ask a few questions that we have for the Product Manager of Wolf Team.

Onrpg: Could you Introduce yourself please?
Valkyrie: Hello, my name is Melodie Leonard and I’ve been with Aeria Games for about a year and a half. I’ve worked on several projects during my time here, including Wolf Team.

Onrpg: Since the release of Wolf Team how has the game been faring?
Valkyrie: Wolf Team has become an excellent addition to the Aeria portal, with more players joining on a daily basis. We’re happy to say that the game has been reliable, stable, and continues to grow in popularity.

Wolf Team Enemy

Onrpg: What features in Wolf Team differ from any other online FPS game?
Valkyrie: Wolf Team adds another level of combat with the introduction of several wolf transformations. Instead of swapping out to a knife or using the butt of a gun, players become werewolves and enter a third-person viewpoint. This variation from standard FPS games provides a great deal of flexibility for the player, while demanding adaptation of traditional strategies and play styles. In addition to this, humans are able to purchase and upgrade from a large selection of weapons using gold they accumulate through playing the game.

Onrpg: What kind of weapons can a player expect to use?
Valkyrie: Players are able to setup weapon groups for use in game that consist of a primary weapon (heavy damage), secondary weapon (pistol), and grenades. Primary weapons include assault and sniper rifles, as well as shotguns, rocket launchers, turret machine guns, and flamethrowers.  Excellent!

Onrpg: Can players purchase the same items or weapons as players using Aeria Points?
Valkyrie: The majority of weapons are available for purchase with gold. This helps ensure that the game continues to be well-balanced since weapons are available to all players. Other items that can be purchased with Aeria Points enhance gameplay while still maintaining the importance of skill outweighing equipment.

Onrpg: What kind of game types can be experienced in Wolf Team? Do you have any plans for new game types in the future?
Valkyrie: Wolf Team has several different game modes (11 including various submodes), from capturing enemy bases to simply killing as many enemies as possible. Submodes provide the opportunity to fight as human vs human, while some modes have the option to battle as wolves vs humans.

Team of Humans

Onrpg: There have been some reports of “Hackers” in Wolf Team, How do you intend to deal with these players?
Valkyrie:  Wolf Team currently uses GameGuard and we work with the developers to keep the game fair for everyone.   We have a very active GM team that works closely with our volunteer community.  Together they keep a close eye on the game and deal with players that do not abide by the rules as we have zero tolerance for cheaters.  It’s important to note most reports of cheating are often not legitimate, and instead come from players that have been defeated by someone who simply outplayed them.

Onrpg: Is there a storyline in Wolf Team that players follow?
Valkyrie: Wolf Team has a background story that leads into the game. However, the storyline does not extend into gameplay progression.  You can see a video of the background story here.

Onrpg: Some users experience lag while playing, obviously this can prove to be a problem in a shooter style game. Is there anything you can do to reduce lag issues?
Valkyrie: The amount of lag a player encounters is generally within their own control based on who they are playing with. Wolf Team game matches operate on peer-to-peer connections, meaning that most lag is due to a player’s connection speed to other players. There is currently a system in place that will remove players from game if their ping rate becomes too high in relation to other players. The game also will not allow players to join a room if their ping deviates too far from the average of the rest of the room.  We will continue to work with the developers to make improvements such as encourage players to join rooms that have a lower ping for them.

Onrpg: Is there any variation in the type of wolf you can change into?
Valkyrie: There are up to nine different wolf types available in some game modes. The abilities of these types of werewolves vary widely.  For example, one wolf Type has incredible health and can block a percentage of damage, but moves slowly.  Another type, the Ghost Wolf, is quick and can become invisible if the player remains still.

Onrpg: Have you faced any major problems since the games release?
Valkyrie: As with launching any new game there’s always a fair share of challenges to overcome, for example bugs, etc.  Fortunately we have been very successful so far resolving problems that come our way in a timely manner and things have been running fairly smoothly.  We are also fortunate that Wolf Team has a community that is very supportive.

Wolfteam Wolf Attacker

Onrpg: Can we expect to see any new content or features in the future?
Valkyrie: Of course! Recently we added a Classic version that allowed players to play their favorite modes as human vs human, like a standard FPS.  There are also more new maps and modes on the way!

Onrpg: Is there any in-game player-staff contact in the form of events, games etc?
Valkyrie: Our team has been very pro-active about in-game support and contact. A normal week includes daily events, including an event where players must either kill or defend the GM (depending on their team).   Prizes are often given out after participating in an event.

Onrpg: What is the age group targeted by Wolf Team?
Valkyrie: Wolf Team primarily appeals to males in their teens and up, however we have found a wide variety of players enjoy the game.

Onrpg: Is there anything else you would like to say?
Valkyrie: I encourage everyone who enjoys FPS games to give Wolf Team a try!  You can download it from our website.

Onrpg: Thank you for your time!
No problem!

Starquest Online Review: Best Space Game with Worst Graphics

By Kei Beneza (dividelife), Onrpg Journalist

When it comes to Space role playing I have to admit, StarQuest Online is DEFINITELY the best space role playing game today. If you’re looking for an awesome Star wars/Star Trek-like experience then I’d like to personally recommend this game to you. StarQuest is an MMORPG that’s (you guessed it!) set in the dark corners of space. While the graphics are as BAD as a dried up wound, the game play stands out among its competitors. The characters really look like they’re wearing Star Trek fleet uniforms, so it will probably have no problem of luring space fans onboard.

Part of the World

Your deeds are literally listed down in the page of history. The game records any in game phenomena caused by players (whether good or bad). Making a name for yourself wouldn’t be a problem if your deeds are recorded in history, right? This is a very excellent feature and can do wonders for any role players out there.

StarQuest Shipyard

Make A Living in Outer Space

There are over 100,000 different planets in Starquest online so there’s no doubt that there’s enough room for everyone (in case you are wondering how big the game is). You can make a colony in your respective planet and do business with the merchant fleet for more in game money. Business is normally the best way to earn; I guess it really does apply everywhere, even in games. You can also kill other players as a space pirate if you’re too lazy to earn money the right way. Again, these features are essential for role playing and greatly compliment the Open PVP system.

Captain! We’re being hit! We must activate the super omega geekazoid transfunctioner booster!

Remember what it was like to play space fleet with your friends? If ever, which part of the fleet were you? Now’s the time to see how well you played your role for the game encourages players to man ships using their corresponding roles. Although you can fly a ship on your own, it’s quite awesome to actually act out as your character during the midst of space exploration. The command center or cockpit does resemble the ones from Star Trek so you should have no problem geek-ing in with the others. If you were to ask me, this game was presented pretty well. If the graphics were better, I’d say this would be a perfect game.

StarQuest Ticonderoga

Build, Customize, and Conquer

Much like any other MMO, you’ll be purchasing items and upgrades to make your ship powerful. You can also get an engineer to make sure everything is in order. If you don’t want to suck in battle, then it’s probably a good idea to make sure that your ship is in tip top shape, don’t you think?

The story that never ends: a life of a space cadet/pirate/merchant

The most amazing feature in StarQuest Online would have to be the storyline in general. You’re basically given a scenario and it’s up to everyone to make the story progress further. Since everyone has their own roles in the game, don’t think that you yourself don’t matter.  If I must sum it up: suppose a group of pirates hold a planet hostage. It’s up to the Alliance to make sure everything goes well. This means that they’ll need to either arrest or destroy the enemy to get the job done. If however, the pirates were too strong and managed to go through with a catastrophic plan to (let’s say…) burn the Alliance fleet away, the deed will be listed down as one of the most diabolical schemes in the game’s book of history. Neat huh? Rivalries between factions are likely to occur at any given time. War is no exception as well. The game literally projects the life of a space civilization and it definitely does not get any better than this.  It’s not every day that we get to have a game that lets us mold the storyline like crazy, so make the best of it and do your part!

Let’s talk about the graphics: and god it’s really bad

Nothing in this world is perfect, and though this game has it going on, there will always be something to pull it down. Yes, the graphics are really terrible. PlayStation (I) games look a lot better than this game and I’m not even exaggerating. Almost everything is polygonal and some planets look like JPEG files scattered across the net. Everything is pretty much low res (low resolution) so it may look really dull and could even be dismissed as a really bad game in this era of gaming.

StarQuest Bad Graphics

The ingame sounds are bad as well since it tends to repeat itself most of the time. This particular element may become rather annoying as you play through the game, though it’s nothing your music player can’t fix.

The Verdict

The game is really something! Customizable storyline, space battles, pirates, possibly everything a space fanatic would hope for. The graphics may disturb your rhythm since it’s technically as bad as it gets. Characters don’t have faces and would probably be comparable with the first SIMS game, only worse. The characters aren’t rendered and would look like molded clay without even the slightest bit of detail. The ship’s interior looks like an overstretched picture as well. Though graphics aren’t the main focus of each game, it does act as the medium that hooks players into playing the game. They could’ve made it much better, considering the fact that first SIMS game is more than outdated by now.  The game is really role playing at its finest, with a book to mark each and every phenomenon in the game’s timeline. Being able to be a part of a player based fleet is also a big plus since it allows players to immerse themselves in the game’s scenario even further. The whole space wars thing never gets old, and if ever StarQuest is a vision of what the future may bring, damn it I can’t wait any longer.

Pros:
-Molded storyline
-Book of History
-Presentation
-Really addictive.

Cons:
-Graphics are totally bad
-I’d rather turn of the music (since it’s the same thing over and over again).

Maps of Mercenary Wars:

Sweden
Although based in North America, the International Hessian Order (IHO) has a secondary base in Sweden.  This country initially provided protection for the IHO in exchange for a percentage of natural resources that the organization recovered from their battles.  After a short time, the IHO overthrew the Swedish government, seized their military assets and established the formerly peaceful country as their secondary base when away from their North American headquarters.

The Museum
This public-use facility houses a variety of valuable treasures ranging from the time of the Dinosaurs to the time of the Pharaohs and even more modern exhibits.  Located in Africa, it is the main stronghold of the Continental African Mercenary League.  This organization uses this once-popular facility as both a training camp and also as the main location for strategic planning purposes.

Mosque
This former Mosque has been transformed into a training arena by the Medjay Mercenary Unit.  This group of Middle Eastern Mercenaries decided to over-throw the peaceful monarch and replaced it with their “kill for hire” rule of law.  This building allows for a multitude of different fighting scenarios that helps the Medjay prepare for battle against their enemies.

The Restaurant
This dining establishment is located in the middle of the territory belonging to United Asian Front (UAF).  Members of this Asian-based mercenary group frequented this restaurant to conduct business with a variety of arms dealers and other questionable suppliers. The restaurant offers multiple rooms which this organization used for a variety of uses in its heyday and now serves as a good place to confront their enemies when they are on the UAF’s home turf.

The Factory
This building is the main facility for the Mercenarios Unidad del Americas (M.U.A.) and acts as their most important logistical component in their many businesses.  Since their territory ranged throughout the entire South American region, this large facility is strategically located to be able to supply members of this organization quickly with arms and other resources needed to push back their rivals.

Other maps will be added throughout the Closed Beta process.

Unlike other first person shooter games available today, Mercenary Wars features a unique stat system that players can use to upgrade and customize their lifelike characters.  The combat in the game is designed to feel very realistic, while also allowing players to adjust their speed, accuracy, and health stats.  Mercenary Wars is set in the not so distant future in a world where order and society as we know them are a thing of the past.  The economies of the world have crashed and have been replaced with total chaos.  New alliances have been forged and the world is now controlled by well-trained groups of mercenaries.  Players must determine who to swear their allegiance to and fight side-by-side to the death, if necessary, in the quest to ensure becoming the new global powerhouse.

Mercenary Wars will also feature an innovative Artificial Intelligence system where computer controlled “bots” can be used in several ways ranging from practice to enhancing game play.  Via four difficulty modes, players can select their desired skill level no matter what their previous FPS experience might be.  Other features include multiple gameplay modes, a variety of character types and races, extensive ranking system including more than 50 different character ranks and title, an expansive number of weapons and equipment available for character customization and a built-in player-to-player audio communication tool for enhanced real-world combat simulation.
