Digimon Masters Announces Player Driven Updates

Digimon Masters Announces Player Driven Updates

Joymax announced today the start of a series of new content and changes inspired by and based on player feedback for its online massive multiplayer title, Digimon Masters.  A fantastic universe where our world and the Digital World are closer than anyone would have imagined is about to change in ways never expected!  Joymax has now launched the first of several patches which will include functional game changes as well as new Mercenary Digimon.

“We set in place a number of measures in order to limit the negative impact of real-money trade and botting on Digimon Masters, but quickly came to the realization while these were effective in deterring RMT, they were also overly punitive to our players.” said Joymax CEO, Nam-chul Kim.  “The player’s voices have been heard on this issue and others, and we’re committed to addressing their concerns in a timely manner.”

The first part of the update, which launched on November 1st, addressed player requests that were related to experience point deductions and low drop-hatch rates: the XP penalty for extended game play has been removed, and the drop-hatch rates have been increased. These improvements were widely lauded as a positive step forward for the publisher. In addition, several new Digi-Eggs were added to the cash shop: Keramon, Hawkmon, and Petimeramon.

Future content updates, that are due out in November and December, will include an expanded cash shop with more payment methods, a new game server named Lucemon, two special Digivolutions for Beelzemon and MetalGarurumon, eight new Digimon including Agumon and Tentomon, and last but not least, three new maps!  With more unannounced changes to come throughout 2012, this is the perfect time to jump straight into Digimon Masters.

Digimon are well known all over the globe as part of the famous Japanese TV animation series.  Digimon Masters is the first ever 3D online game based on the Digimon universe with more than 1,000 characters featured from seasons 1 through 5 of the series. Not only is it faithful to the art design, Digimon Masters closely follows the original story that will satisfy both loyal fans of the series as well as the average gamer. The game seamlessly combines pet training simulation with role-playing elements to deliver a one of a kind gaming experience. Featuring real-time combat, Gamers will be thrilled with the challenges brought forth by real-time combat which requires quick thinking and good reflexes. Players can also become one of 8 Royal Knights. Royal Knights are Digimon who are in charge of each area in the Digital World. Leaders of a guild that conquers one of these areas can become a Royal Knight who has the right to impose taxes along with other perks and obligations.

Lord of Ages: Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day

Lord of Ages: Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor), OnRPG Journalist

The first step in your journey through the Lord of Ages is creating your Lord. There are some minor things you are able to choose from such as your name, the gender plus a suitable image for your Lord and the nation you will start in. Currently there are seven nations that you can choose to start in and I chose to start off in Thuringia. When you finally get into your first town you will get a small tutorial that will teach you the basic stuff such as building the necessary buildings and gaining a small army to venture off with in the wilds. You will notice the environment has some moving objects such as clouds drifting by, peasants toiling, and some guards patrolling around. In the world view you will also notice your neighbors and nearby resources. Often one stands in the way of the other if you know what I mean.

The fastest route to world domination is to speed through the basic quests given at the beginning of the game. These quests will give you the resources to freely construct buildings vital in expanding your empire. These quests will also give you additional rewards in form of food, lumber, iron, stone and some coins. If you simply need one of the above resources you can also buy them with G-Cash which is the real money currency that is currently in existence in Lord of Ages.

Alliances are basically guilds in Lord of Ages; you can join an alliance once you build a level 1 Embassy. If you grow tired of taking orders from others, you can attempt to forge your own legacy by upgrading your Embassy to level 3 and forming your own alliance.. In the Alliance you can let friends and other Lords join your group so you can help each other out and unite against your enemies.

Hunting Dragon Treasures is a really fun feature and where I choose to spend the majority of my time after building a small army. This involves exploring the world map until you come across a dragon’s lair. It will cost you a few coins to explore the lair but if successful, you always get something useful out of it so the money is not wasted. The majority of my attempts resulted in the lair awarding me 600 food which is a vital resource for building your empire up in the early stages of the game.

Conclusion

Are you a really big fan of the medieval setting and do you like dragons and dungeons? Lord of Ages provides this all and it’s a really fun simple browser game to pick up. The UI is easy to learn, mainly because it’s modeled after the Age of Empire series. If you’re an empire building addict or just fond of time wasting browser games, Lord of Ages is definitely worth looking into.

League of Legends Shows New Mastery Trees

League of Legends Announces New Masteries in Season 2

Season 2 is upon us and one of the most drastic changes announced in Riot Game’s popular MOBA, League of Legends, is a complete overhaul of the mastery trees.

Riot is preparing to make choices more dynamic and less cookie cutter when deciding masteries by removing elements that previously forced players down one tree due to their role in a party rather than personal play style. Under the new system players will find multiple viable choices and each Ryze you meet on the battlefield is likely going to feel a bit different as a result of it.

Of course with the increase of new items, particularly in the new Dominion Mode, this was also done as a balancing test to help incorporate the new items into a more balanced system. Up until now Dominion mode has been a chaotic slug fest and this will hopefully bring a bit more order to it for some champions known to dominate Dominion.

One of the primary changes that will really open up the options for players is the adjustment of summoner spell masteries to the bottom tier of each tree. Previously players wanting to maximize the effectiveness of popular summon spells like flash and clairvoyance were forced to stat deep into the utility tree to capitalize on them. With the ability to put one point into the tree that boosts your masteries for flash and clairvoyance, this will no longer be the case and support characters can begin to explore the unknown realms of the attack and defense tree should they wish to.

Stay tuned for future installments of Hhean’s League of Legends Champion Review column for a more in-depth look at how this impacts gameplay and the future of League of Legends! Until then be sure to join our League of Legends discussion board to give your opinion on these new masteries.

Juggernaut Online Launches Era of Strongholds

Juggernaut Online Launches Era of Strongholds

Mail.RU Games announced today that it has completed the launch of Era of Strongholds, the first Add-on for their successful F2P RPG, Juggernaut Online. Following the initial release of the first files on the server during the last few weeks, the long awaited add-on is now completely available in North America and offers players all-new content.  Era of Strongholds raises the maximum level to 35 and extends this Dark Fantasy browser game with several new features, factions and locations. No matter if it is about clan housing, the mystery around the Eimenzia Island or new battlegrounds, Juggernaut – Era of Strongholds marks a new age.

Eimenzia Island – War of Amazons

Considered to belong to the realm of legends for a long time, Era of Strongholds reveals the secret around the existence of Eimenzia Island – a green island with a fertile soil which is inhabited only by Amazons. Brave warriors plunge themselves into adventure to gather new experiences. After just arriving to Eimenzia, they get entangled in a family feud: Shayla-ann and Anais-ann, sisters and rulers of the Amazons, were torn apart in childhood causing them to split the tribe in two groups. Players take sides with the good-natured Anais-ann and help her to overthrow Shayla-ann who would stop at nothing to stay in power. Rare armors and artifacts await the brave heroes in the new instances Tschius Temple Ruins and Tantal’s Cave. Any who win the battle will increase their prestige among the inhabitants of Eimenzia and gain exclusive items.

The Heretics – Dark Magic of Outcasts

In the gloomy world of Haradan, little things can distress the surviving warriors – Demonology is one such example. Even more horrific than the rumors of the ghastly forces whispered at night, is the real personification of all dark spine-chillers, the demonologist Wargula. This greatest master of the Black Magic teaches daredevil adventurers powerful spells which turn their opponents forever into dangling wrecks. The spell is a true punishment for opponents where a ball is chained to the victim’s feet constricting him or her for hours. On the other hand, magic ointments are able to strengthen players giving them demonic powers. The heretics not only specialize in magical tricks but also possess malicious weapons: their crossbows are equipped with poisonous arrows that make everyone who is shot lose a great deal of their power and fighting skills. Only truly worthy warriors with high reputation can get access to the heretics’ knowledge. To obtain precious items, the players can visit the abbeys of the demonologists in the Fortress of Alienation as well as in the Settlement of Exiles.
