Perfect World International Reveals Descent

Perfect World Reveals Descent Details

February 15th marks a huge day in Perfect World International history as one of the best looking updates in a long while goes live. Descent offers some of the toughest end-game content to date, new gear, new skills, new factions, and a much needed revamp of the way territory wars are fought.

Players level 95 and up will be able to delve into the depths of the world of the Morai, where they can align themselves with three orders: the wise Order of Corona, the scheming Order of the Shroud, and the mercurial Order of Luminance. Similar to the Heaven or Hell expansion, you can expect to see a slew of new skills open up for each class, including stealth for archers (my cleric is quivering at the thought). In addition to new end-game skills, characters will also be able to gain access to unique gear based on the order they choose, further differentiation people of the same class. Even some cool vanity pets will be available!

The territory map rework is what should have people truly excited though. Come February 13th, the entire map on every server in Europe and North America will be reset. From then on the server will battle in 6 month seasons with the winning faction being rewarded 10 Shadow Fox Mounts and 20 Scarlet Fox Mounts. These exclusive mounts will surely be highly sought and the constant server resets should keep things much more competitive between factions.

Star Trek Online Celebrates Second Anniversary

Star Trek Online Celebrates Second Anniversary

Star Trek Online Two Years

Star Trek Online is celebrating its second anniversary this week. A developer diary from Executive Producer, Stephen D’Angelo, details the celebrations that players can participate in. The events only last until February 6th, so make sure you check in!

We are rapidly approaching Star Trek Online’s second anniversary on February 2nd, 2012. To celebrate this moment in Star Trek history, we have four days of fun lined up for you. The event will run from around 10 AM PST on Thursday, February 2nd, through around the same time on Monday, February 6th.

As with many STO events, Q will be the master of ceremonies. Log in each day and seek out Q at Earth Spacedock or Qo’noS, and he’ll have something unusual to do. Q is easily bored and really enjoys watching humanoids do silly things. Complete his task, and he’ll have a fun prize for you! Log in all four days to collect all the prizes. What are they? You’ll have to find out for yourselves by joining in the event.

Q isn’t the only one celebrating, however. Starfleet Command is commissioning the new Odyssey class cruiser starship that weekend. Players level 5 and above should report to Engineer Kani (in front of Admiral Quinn’s office on Earth Spacedock) for a mission to take one of the new Odyssey class ships on a shakedown cruise. Complete the mission to receive an Odyssey class ship of your very own.

When the Klingon Defense Force intelligence service alerted the High Council with Starfleet’s activities, they decided to launch their newest ship, the Bortas (Vengeance) class starship the same day. KDF officers level 21 and above should report to Engineer Tum’Era (in front of the Great Hall on Qo’noS) for a similar shakedown mission. Those who complete the mission will earn a Bortas class ship of their own to command.

These two ships will be free to everyone during the event, regardless of level or rank. The ships require you be level 50 to fly them in combat, so characters of lower level will find an item in their inventory that they cannot use until they reach level 50. After the event, these two ships will no longer be obtainable for a while. We have not finalized details yet on when they will return, but we will announce the details once we have them.

The specifications on these starships are classified at this time, but if you watch this communication channel over the next couple of days, we’ll give you a sneak peek of these incredible ships.

Starships and prizes are just part of the celebration. The real joy comes from seeing so many people enjoying the universe Roddenberry created, and sharing in the experience online. I look forward to seeing you all in the Star Trek universe for the celebration!

Before you head out to Anniversary Event, make sure to take a look at the FAQ thread about the event here. Also be sure to check out the awesome new trailer showcasing The 2800.

Star Wars The Old Republic: Journey of a Sith IV

Star Wars The Old Republic: Next Stop is Nar Shaddaa!

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor), OnRPG Journalist

Last week in my SWTOR adventures, I spent my time in Balmorra and I had found my first artifact that I was looking for. During my journey I have met a lot of people and even some interesting NPC’s where I spent some time with. After I had done all the quests on Balmorra that was possible it was time to head back to my ship and go on another adventure to a new planet. Since I had no other choice I went to Nar Shaddaa, home to the intergalatic city that never sleeps.

I was truly stunned when I set my first foot on the ground of Nar Shaddaa. This planet had really the most stunning and best looking environments from all of the planets I have been to. The big city where I had landed was really massive and shone beautifully at night. When I got to talk with a few locals and helped a few people out I got the plan of raising my own gang to get some notability. The artifact that I was looking for was in the hands of a gang leader that was troubling everyone and all the residents, and thus I had to help a lot of the locals to gain some fame and more followers in my own gang.

Lord Paladius the evil gang leader that got a hold of the artifact that I was looking for was one man to be afraid of. He had dealt with multiple Sith already that were sent to Nar Shadaa seeking the same goal as myself. It was clear I couldn’t beat him alone so I went about recruiting a rather large following. During this time I was still a low level and unable to use any form of transportation like mounts so I had to walk a lot. Unfortunately like the other planets I had to travel quite some distances to get to the questing zone and to finish all my quests. Luckily Nar Shaddaa had some sort of temporary mounts on the side of the road that made the players a bit faster but unfortunately not fast enough for my liking. So I decided to party up with my good old friends and do some warzones to gain some levels fast. After playing for a few hours straight and earning tons of cash and marks I went to the imperial fleet to get me some Player versus Player gear. Now I must say the gear that I found with questing and doing heroics was really good but the warzone gear was even better than the gear I had before. It really made my character noticably stronger, and so I had no problem dealing with any thugs or other players that stood in my way. And after a while I managed to get to level 25 and I was able to get the skill to ‘ride’ my mount.

Since I had preordered a digital deluxe version I already had a special mount for the occasion and could save my cash for more important things like debauchery in Nar Shaddaa. When I had the mount I was able to do the quests much faster since the distance between npcs and goal objectives on this world are insane. Of course faster movement leads to faster leveling. Before I realized it I was a one-man army and decided to wrap things up quickly to finish of Lord Paladius. When I found Lord Paladius’ hideout I rushed in quickly expecting his gang to fall in one fell swoop. Unfortunately things weren’t going as planned and Lord Paladius was notable stronger than anyone I had encountered before, and it took me a few tries to end his miserable life. When achieving the artifact I was looking for I went back to my own gang to tell them about everything that happened and that they shouldn’t have to fear Lord Paladius anymore. During my stay in Nar Shaddaa I also got in touch with a beautiful lady that was in my gang and I got to know her a little better after my journey on the planet. After I told her I had to leave she had a surprise for me and she went to show me more of this beautiful planet and area. When it was time to go I promised her that I would see her soon. And like any real gentleman… I did not. When I got to my ship I decided to head back to my master and report my adventure and my findings.

I don’t want to spoil much more, but after I reported back to my master I realized how cunning and evil she truly is. I knew from now on I would have to watch my back or wake up with a knife in it. Everyone around me warned me that she was plotting to betray me but I didn’t give a second thought to something not pertinent to the present. In my next article I will head to the planet of the sand where my first battle with a rival Jedi begins!

Tribes: Ascend Previews Upcoming Enhancements and Class Customization

Tribes: Ascend Previews Upcoming Enhancements and Class Customization

Today, Hi-Rez Studios released screenshots previewing enhancements coming to the fast-action multiplayer shooter Tribes: Ascend. Tribes: Ascend, currently in Beta, has been receiving regular updates since early November. This next planned patch delivers the most significant update to date.

“We feel very good about the fast and fluid combat we’ve been playing and refining with the community over the past few months” explains Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Studios Chief Operating Officer. “We are now excited to announce new features that have been among those most requested by our Beta group.”

“Our next update will include additional class customization and a much more polished user interface that really showcases the sci-fi, high resolution graphics of Tribes: Ascend. We will be collapsing the total number of playable classes from 12 to 9, but adding the ability for players to unlock new weapons for each class and further customize their loadout. Three of the nine classes will be available right away so a new player will have access to a Light, Medium, and Heavy class in his or her first match”

“We believe this system preserves class-based combat but offers additional flexibility for players to customize classes around individual playstyle. It continues to provide a balanced and level playing field for all players – free and VIP.”

Tribes: Ascend is a free-to-play shooter for the PC Platform with servers currently located across North America, Europe, and Australia. In addition to unlockable classes, weapons, skills and perks, the Beta version includes 3 drivable vehicles, 3 game modes, and 9 playable maps. Hi-Rez Studios is also planning to support Ranked Servers and Custom Servers.

Those wishing to guarantee a Closed Beta spot may purchase the Tribes: Ascend VIP Starter Bundle at the game’s official website. The bundle includes automatic admission into Beta, permanent VIP status in the game, a 30-day Booster and 3000 Tribes Gold. The VIP Starter Bundle is priced at a 33% discount to list price, as a reward to the game’s Beta testers.
