Over 9,000 Zombies! Coming to Steam Early Access

Over 9,000 (Zombies)

Swarms of the undead will be taking over Steam Early Access in what is possibly the greatest number of zombies ever seen in a game*. Indie developer Loren Lemcke has teamed up with UK independent publisher Mastertronic to bring Over 9000 Zombies! to Steam Early Access this July.

Over 9000 Zombies! is a retro-style, top-down zombie shoot-‘em-up. The zombie apocalypse has arrived and you must annihilate them to survive. Tons of AI enemies powered by Zombie Swarm Intelligence launch themselves in marauding hordes of fiendish pests for insane zombie killing action! Choose from a massive array of weapons, build a fortified base with automated turrets, and blast the relentless rogues to cling on to life as long as possible. The crisp clockwork breakbeats conceived by Clearside Music create a cavalcade of sound that punctuates your murderous missions with its increasingly intense dynamic. Call for reinforcements with cooperative multiplayer that lets friends join your fight against the multitudes of zombies!

Also contains zombie dog poo.

Loren Lemcke, developer, commented: “The greatest plague of our society is not hordes of zombies, but those who kill zombies thinking it is justified because there is no humanity left in their souls. I contend we humans are not that different from our zombie brethren. Do we not also hunger for the unobtainable? Do we not also grasp and claw at any shred of happiness of which we happen to catch scent? Are we not also inspired by the brains of great men and women? Please, my brothers and sisters, if you choose to slay zombies, hear my simple plea: do it not because of our minor differences, but rather, do it because it is fun.”

Andy Payne, CEO of Mastertronic, said: “When we first saw Over 9,000 Zombies! we knew that Mastertronic should be the meat shield for this wonderful game. I am glad Loren let us be part of this apocalypse.”

Over 9000 Zombies! will be unleashing soon on Steam Early Access for Windows PC.

New MMORPG for E3 “Defenders of Time”

Defenders of Time

Defenders of Time introduces a new level of cooperative, fast-paced tower defense gaming for the PC at E3 from June 10 – 12, 2014. This will be the first release of Las Vegas game company Four Lights.

Defenders of Time is centered around teamwork in the vein of popular MMORPG guild play, but with communication features rarely seen before in PC gaming. Abilities include diagramming on team member’s screens, snap-to location pinging and in-match setup of voice chat from completely unplugged to fully tuned. One player acts as team commander; this player holds two roles. First, he provides for his team by discovering advanced weapons and suggesting defensive tactics; second, he decides the nature of challenges the opposing team faces. Up to three additional players per team coordinate efforts and resources to build a defense system that can fight off the opposing commander’s attacks – quick thinking and cooperation are key to the success or failure of a team.

The user-friendly player interface is serviceable by gamers of all ages and skill levels. Design elements of the game draw inspiration from 1950’s automobiles in a style developers have dubbed “Chromepunk,” and international landmarks throughout history such as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the desert outside of Las Vegas, and more – all with a science fiction twist.

The Repopulation – End of May 2014 Report

The Repopulation

The Repopulation team has released a new development report for their upcoming Sci-Fi sandbox game, which details plenty of new changes, including combat, audio, engagements, graphics and more.

“It’s that time of the month again. It’s time to take a look back a the month of May and what it meant to The Repopulation.

The biggest news of course remains the ongoing alpha testing. A good number of players got their hands on game for the first time in May. The first week of June will see all of our alpha preview weekends and giveaway testers gaining access. So what does that mean for future weekends in June? A couple of things. We’ll be giving away permanent testing access to more players for starters. From there we plan to increase the number of players on the weekends, which mean that some of you will be getting bonus weekends in the near future.

Overall the testing process is going well. There’s plenty of hiccups and bugs to keep us busy for the next couple months, but we’ve been making progress at a good rate. It’s not all bug fixes though. Let’s take a look at some of the features or modifications made in May.

Perhaps the largest addition came in the final days of May. This system, which were are naming Ability Enhancements, works similar to fittings, but for special abilities. Most abilities in the game now support one enhancement slot, and in some cases more. During your adventures you will earn Training Points for completing certain tasks such as defeating boss mobs, completing epic missions, performing well in engagements, hitting skill milestones, earning achievements, and things of that nature. You will be able to spend these Training Points on Ability Enhancements and use them to improve specific abilities. Most abilities support numerous types of enhancements, but due to a limited number of slots, players will need to make choices that fit their playing style.”
