New Attack on Titan Mobile Game Coming in 2016

New Attack on Titan Mobile Game Coming in 2016

GameSamba, NGames Interactive Limited, and Funimation Entertainment have announced today that they are working with Kodansha to develop and publish an officially licensed mobile game based on “Attack on Titan.” The “Attack on Titan” game will be available in all major English markets for Android and iOS devices, and is expected to be released by the end of 2016.

The “Attack on Titan” game will be an action-driven title, allowing players all over the world to battle titans on their mobile devices. It will combine elements of runner and action games, in order to replicate the feeling of the titan battles from the anime series. Players will need to use careful planning – and quick reactions – to survive. There will also be deeper, persistent elements to the game, which will be revealed at a later date.

“We’re very excited to work with NGames and GameSamba to create a game based on the wildly popular ‘Attack on Titan’ franchise,” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO of Funimation Entertainment. “With more than 50 million copies of the manga in print, a 25 episode anime series, and last year’s live action films, we’re excited to show fans what we can do with a game.”

GameSamba, NGames, and Funimation previously announced two, officially licensed mobile games based on “Fairy Tail” and “Tokyo Ghoul,” and an officially licensed web game based on “Fairy Tail.” These three games are set to release in 2016 – the “Fairy Tail” mobile and web games will be available in multiple languages worldwide and the “Tokyo Ghoul” game will be available in English worldwide.

Path of Exile: Ascendancy Launch Date Announced

Path of Exile: Ascendancy Launch Date Announced

Grinding Gear Games announced today that it is ready to unleash the latest chapter for their hit online ARPG, Path of Exile. On March 4th, Path of Exile: Ascendancy and the Perandus Challenge League will be launched simultaneously at noon US Pacific time.

Path of Exile: Ascendancy introduces a host of new features, including:

  • The Trials of Ascendancy: Seeking a worthy successor, Emperor Izaro constructed deadly trials throughout Wraeclast to find candidates. Six types of lethal traps have been crafted by Izaro into elaborate puzzle rooms – an entirely new gameplay type for Path of Exile.
  • The Lord’s Labyrinth: Having proved your mettle in the Trials of Ascendancy, you earn the right to enter Izaro’s Labyrinth. Years have passed, but its traps are as dangerous as the day its doors were first opened. With an entirely new system for generating sequences of random areas, the overall layout of the Labyrinth shifts every day, uncovering new puzzles and secrets.
  • Emperor Izaro: Entombed forever in his own creation, Emperor Izaro lives on. You will face Izaro multiple times during the Labyrinth and the fight will evolve depending on your actions in previous encounters.
  • Ascendancy Classes: Long ago, nineteen competitors entered The Lord’s Labyrinth, each representing a different style of combat. Their powers can be claimed by those who prove themselves worthy by defeating Emperor Izaro. There are 19 new Ascendancy classes, each with its own additional Ascendancy Skill Tree to master.
  • Enchantments: Izaro’s power can also be used to infuse items with powerful properties. These enchantments trigger specific skills and effects to occur on certain conditions. Each time the Labyrinth is completed, you maybe add one of these enchantments to an item.
  • Powerful New Gems: Ascendancy introduces a set of devastating new skills and support gems to customize your character with.
  • Exotic New Items: Featuring dozens of Unique Items and Divination Cards designed by Path of Exile’s community, Ascendancy adds tantalizing power for players to discover.
  • Challenge Leagues: The launch of Ascendancy also marks the start of our latest challenge leagues. These leagues provide an ideal opportunity for a fresh start for returning players.

Launching alongside Path of Exile: Ascendancy is the Perandus Challenge Leagues. These brand new leagues offer players the wealth of the Eternal Empire. Discover caches of Perandus family treasure, slay their guardians and claim the coins contained within. Anyone lucky enough to uncover one of the lost caches will discover something remarkable: fistfuls of glittering coins that can be exchanged with Cadiro Perandus himself for vital equipment and ancient artifacts.

Assetto Corsa PS4 Hands-On Impressions

Simulator games aren’t for everyone. The ultimate appeal of any game with “real-world” roots is often in how it captures and gamifies the essence of its subject matter. A Guitar Hero or a Rock Band wins the hearts of its fans because it delivers the flavor of rock-stardom with a tiny, plastic guitar. If that experience resonates with you, you’re going to have a good time.

But what if you’re a serious guitarist, and the notion of a tiny, plastic guitar offends? You might gravitate more towards a game like Rocksmith, which is more representative of your real-world skills, and perhaps even because it’s a bridge too far for adherents of Guitar Hero’s simple playstyle.

So it is with Assetto Corsa. It makes no bones about being a hardcore simulator, and it is ruthless.

Assetto Corsa

Now, I spend a lot of time driving. I autocross a C4 Corvette and a Datsun Roadster. I’ve been driving up and down mountain roads since before I had a license. When I sat down to try the PS4 version of Assetto Corsa, I strapped myself in, adjusted the wheel and pedals, and plowed my virtual Ferrari FXX-K straight into the wall of Barcelona’s turn 1. Woah.

Through painful trial and error, I discovered that Initial D and Burnout had been the tiny, plastic guitar to Assetto Corsa’s Stratocaster. This game demands a lot more respect and attention than even a closer equivalent like Forza. By the time I finally completed a lap of Barcelona without crashing the Ferrari, I was sweaty, tired, and beaming.

Assetto Corsa

Here’s what I learned: First of all, Assetto Corsa demands quality gear. I was lucky enough to try it with an off-the-shelf racing bucket and ThrustMaster’s T300RS wheel with the T3PA pedal set. The game communicates viscerally and effectively through the wheel – the Ferrari’s nose became light and the steering wandered at triple digit speeds, and the time spent on suspension simulation and laser-scanning the tracks has clearly paid off: I’ve never experienced a closer digital analog to real-world racing.

However, I was only given the opportunity to try hotlaps on one track, in the one car. I therefore can’t comment on how the game performs with multiple AI components and the added rendering complexity of other cars. What I can say from what I saw: there’s no visual degredation compared to the PC version, and the PS4 happily churns out a mostly-solid 60fps.

As for the Ferrari FXX-K, it’s ‘exclusive’ representation in the console version is nothing significant. True, it’s a monster, and it’s a handful to drive fast – especially with the assists turned off – but it’s not worth picking up this version of game just to try it out. More likely than not, it’ll appear as DLC later down the line.

Assetto Corsa

This is the kind of game where you want to cozy up to the coffee table in your living room with a great wheel, and experience some relatable cars at high speed. In other words, you won’t feel like a rock god, but you’ll get your friends to yell “Freebird.”
