Default Hospital drips?

I'm wondering...these things are supposed to provide energy by pumping fluids directly into your veins, but do they actually stop you from feeling hungry?

If anyone has been admitted into a hospital before and been put on a drip, please kindly answer. =p

Well, you'll still feel hungry, but at least not "like fainting" hungry, just hungry from an empty stomach.

Have you seen the size of those needles?!

I had an amateur nurse on work experience pull mine out, and that's exactly what she did.

Pulled it out.

i thought they just got fluids( like water) in your system, not nutrients or food. but you cant put pure water straight into blood so they made the IV fluid just isotonic with the blood.

Hah, when I was 4 and in the hospital for pneumonia I made that mistake. I woke up with a big needle taped on my arm and my first though was apparently "I don't like needles". I pulled it out and started screaming my head off.

What are you supposed to do with it then? When I was around 6 I was on an IV for about 5 days and they just pulled the needle out. I didn't even feel anything. Actually, the part that hurt was taking the gauze tape off. Maybe mine was different?

I can't remember if it hurt or not, I just remember screaming my head off because I woke up with a gigantic needle in my arm.
