The advanced wars games for the ds and gameboy advanced are a turn based type with artillary, tanks, jeeps, planes, helicopters, boats, and infantry. You gotta be very strategic about how you play on the story mode.

Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath has a Risk type gameplay mode that is pretty good. Company of Heroes has some good strategy involved. Dawn of War is just turtlan gaems, or ork rushan gaems.

Anyways, it sounds like you'd like World in Conflict, Empire Earth 1 and 2 (Not 3 god no), and Rise of Nations. |

Company of Heroes is amazing. Dawn of War is awesome but doesn't require the tactical skill you need to be good at CoH. Any Total War game, especially Medieval Total War II. Imperial Glory is a good one also, no air-support... actually Total War games have no Air support. But they are good none the less. But Company of Heroes is probably the best I've ever played.
