Into Role Playing? Check out Threshold
Threshold RPG is one of the oldest role playing required MUDs on the internet. It has been live for over 12 years, and tens of thousands of players have graced its realms in that time.
Religion, politics, economics, and more are all extremely deep and enjoyable. But role playing is not the only thing to do. The game world is huge and has tons of areas, quests, monsters, gear, and all that sort of fun, standard fantasy RPG type stuff. There is a reason this game has been successful for such a long time: it is just a straight up great game. Try it and you'll see for yourself.
