How wrong you are.....From what Ive seen from the melee class, the combat requires no targeting you can slash even if you have no target meaning it's action. You choose from 3 directions in the beginning and then when you hit 40 you get 5 directions. The enemies have these shields around them the more shields there are in one area the more likely chance the will either block the attack or do less damage so it's better to go for the least shielded areas. It also has a combo system which allows you to pull of some fancy moves called fatalities which pretty much cut an enemies head off sending blood to your screen. The Ranger DOES have a first person option to attack with and it can also target the enemy to do your attacks(The only generic thing I find about the combat). Melee class has the most uncommonly found combat system. So don't pollute people's mind with bullshit.
It ALSO has a day and night system. However Daytime is considered multiplayer Night time is single player(In case to bastard is at a mob spot). And no it doesnt just randomly change to night and automatically go Single player. You have to talk to an Npc to rest or something and it will be the opposite part of the day of what you had last.
The pvp is probably one of the most funnest features in the game. Siege warfare anyone?
