Anyways, I'm building a custom PC on ibuypower. I'm too lazy to order seperate parts and a tower and build one myself at home, so, **** off, if you're going to suggest that.
Anyways, my current crappy computer I'm selling, and I might get a new one at IBuy Power ( If my dad agrees to pay ). How is this set up _______________ Adamas gaming tower case with 420 watt PSU Intel core 2 duo 3 8400 3.0ghz. I'm not really worried about the speed, I have some experience in the art of over clocking, so I bet I can make it 4.0 GHZ at least. An AVC silent CPU fan and heat sink. I'm getting 2x 1 GB corsair RAM sticks DDR 2( Plus I have 2x1GB RAM sticks DDR2 I can add to make it 4 G ![]() MOBO:Asus P5KPL-CM Intel G31 Chipset w/6-channels, Gb LAN, S-ATA 3Gb/s, USB 2.0, Single PCI-E MB Hard drive : Getting a 500 GB Hard drive 7200 RPm 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System 24 " High def 1920x1200 resolution monitor I have right now. I'm also getting a Logitech Mouse and a new keyboard Getting a new gaming head set. Now, for the graphics card, I'm thinking of getting an nvidia 9800 GT with 1 GB Memory, is this good? Also, if I buy SLI, it'll be more expensive, but I heard a lot of games have serious issues with SLI and SLI doesn't give you that much of a performance boost. So should I? If you see anything wrong, PLEASE TELL ME, I don't want this computer to be 1337 garbage. Also, Im getting vista 32 bit. 693 dollars. Last edited by DivineRevival; 09-27-2008 at 05:46 AM. |

It seems alright....and usually, if you know how to overclock, you would be sure of the compatability of the components. About the SLI thing, it's only really useful at high resolutions (which you are most likely playing at [1920x1200]).
Oh, and gotta love +1 posts....(+3 for you) |

You probably could play at high resoultions with cod4, crysis... maybe not because that game is intensive as ****. You'd need uber cards to play it with high resolutions with anti-aliasing (whatever its called).
I dunno, maybe get better cards if you do want to play crysis, (even though its crap) if you got the moolah. |

Actually, forget what I said with my last post and yes, SLI does help at higher resolutions. I don't think 1 9800 GT could possibly play cod4 at max at that resolution. Though someone correct me if I'm wrong. You may want to invest in 2 cards if you get the money.

Is it me or do you make a new thread about this every month? Anywho, PSU looks a little sketchy, and a 9800GT 1GB is a little on the weak side for hi-res gaming, as for sli...meh. If you want to go SLI you're going to need a stronger psu though, so keep that in mind, but SLI does give a good boost at higher resolutions. The 9800GTX+ and 4870 are good for the price and should do you fine.
good luck
