The Maple Rebellion
Prequel to the story by “Glitchedup”

Prologue_

2006.3.15 – 52.

“Permission to enter?”
“Come in.”

It was Manji, an Admiral in the ranks of the Victoria alliance. Manji was hoping to become the 5th of the Elite Council, constisting of Dances with Balrog, Athena Pierce, Hines, and Dark Lord. After a long talk, Hines thought for a long time and asked Manji to come back tomorrow.

2006.3.16 – 13:40.

Manji entered the conference room, staring at the empty seat at the table. He was surprised to see the four of the Elite council accompanying Hines.

“I have made my decision,” said Hines.
“Or perhaps, we have made our decision.”

“And…?” Manji said anxiously.

“You will not be accepted into the Elite council.”

“What?! But why not?!”

Manji stared at Hines, puzzled.

“You are not powerful enough, you are not wise enough, and you are irresponsible. Simple as that.”

“Give me a better reason”, Manji said.

“That is my reason.”

“I am not powerful enough? I took control of Sleepywood once controlled by Jr. Balrog! I DEFEATED HIM!”

“Yes, but only with the help of Tristan, who sacrificed himself just to save you.”

“THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!”

Manji stormed away.

2006.3.17 – 1:03

“Not powerful enough…Hines doesn’t know power when he sees it. I’ll force my way into the Elite council if I have to!”



Chapter 1 – The Assassination_

2006.3.20 – 23:12

The power of the Elite council had to be Manji’s. Power. The word that remained in Manji’s head ever since he saw it in action. Manji stirred himself a cup of chocolate reindeer milk. Manji thought of what he could do with such power.

I could lead attacks on the most dreaded armies…I could make history…I could become so famous…I would have girls running after me…I HAVE to get into the Elite council…

Manji, determined to get into the Elite council, spread rumors about Dances with Balrog, so that the town of Perion would eventually hate him. It worked. Within weeks, every roof in Perion wished to rebel against Dances with Balrog. Citizens of Perion complained to the soon to be three of the Elite council. The Elite council was shocked.

“Who told you this?”

The citizen said, “Manji. Dances with Balrog plans to tax Perion for his own selfish reasons! He plans to open the gates of Perion to monsters! He plans to assassinate you!”

Hines was shaking his head.

“Foolish, foolish.”

2006.3.22 – 10:41

“Did you hear? Dances with Balrog is-“

-slap-

Manji was confused.

“Why’d you hit me?!”

“You will NOT be accepted into the Elite council.”

“What? What makes you think that I still want to join?”

“A citizen complained about Dances with Balrog. His source was you. I have announced that someone is spreading rumors about Dances with Balrog.”

“Damn it…”

Hines walked away, to come back with a scroll.”

“What’s that?” said Manji.

“It’s the code of the Elite council. It’s been here for almost 300 years.”

Hines pointed to the seventeenth law. It read: “If a member of thy forsaken leaders of the Sacred Alliance be killed or expelled, thou must be replaced immediately to keep balance between the four towns.” Hines made a face.

“this is the only way you will get in. If one of us dies.”

2006.3.23 – 3:57

Manji crept through the dark streets of Perion, filled with the screams and shouts of the ever-present merchants. No sense in being stealthy, this place is filled with people. Manji hurried to the free market portal, where the Elite council tower resided. Hidden in the hollow tree, only the council members and high ranked soldiers knew where it was. Manji checked his belt. One throwing knife. That was all he had. Manji was not skilled with throwing knives, but it was all he had. Manji crept through the halls of the tower, climbing up the stairs without making a sound. In the lounge, Manji found Dances with Balrog reading a scroll. Clutching his throwing knife, Manji prepared for the assassination. Manji threw over himself a cloak, so his identity would not be revealed.

Manji walked into the lounge. Dances with Balrog looked up slightly, then went back to his scroll. He’s so busy with his scroll he won’t even notice when I-

-crack-.

Dances with Balrog fell to the floor. Manji had used his Golden Maul to crack the skull of Dances with Balrog. Manji shoved the knife into Dances with Balrog’s chest. He ran.

Chapter 2 – The Ritual_

2006.3.23 - 12:44

The body of Dances with Balrog lay in an open casket, mourners standing beside it, crying. In his chest was the wound left by Manji's knife. The three of the Elite council were saddened by the death of Dances with Balrog.

2006.4.1 - 1:00

The trumpet sound filled the free market, as the trials to see who would replace Dances with Balrog as the Warrior chief began.

Four admirals: Matt (nicknamed "Scick"), Manji, Adam, and Ding.

The first trial was to test strength. The four were to battle ten waves of great vikings and not end up being severely injured. Hines's magic protected the four. Matt and Manji were successful, Adam managed to crawl out okay, but Ding was eliminated.

The second trial was to test wisdom. The three were asked a series of questions. Matt was eliminated.

The last trial was to test responsibility. The two were to protect an extremely fragile glass box from breaking, by blocking the items being thrown at it. Distractions were sent, such as money, items, illusions, and beautiful women (hehe). Adam was eliminated.

Manji was to be dubbed the fourth of the Elite council.

(this chapter might not have satisfied you, but the next few will.)


Chapter 3 - Manji's Tyranny_

2006.6.18 - The Battle of Ellinia port

Crimson Balrogs were destroying Ellinia, along with a massive army of Tauromacis. The Elite Council sent Manji to protect Ellinia.

"We need you to assist the priests in protecting Ellinia. The Crimson Balrogs are too much for them."

Dark Lord gave Manji some kind of scroll, which he said to use wisely. Hines doored Manji to Ellinia.

Manji and his army were immediately barraged with lightning from Tauromacis. The army dispatched of the mob quickly, and the battle went on.

2006.6.19 - 16:21

Manji reported back to The Elite Council.

"The Crimson Balrog ships have been driven out of Ellinia."

Manji came back, chin up, chest out, although scarred, proud. Dark Lord asked him about the scroll.

"I completely forgot about the scroll."

"You mean you defeated the army without using the scroll?!"

"Yeah. What was it supposed to do?"

"Nevermind that. How did you do that.."

Having heard that he had been given a special scroll thinking that he could not defeat an army, Manji felt an even greater sense of pride.

2006.6.21 - 1:22

Manji thought about what had happened the other day.

"If I have that much power...I wonder.."

Manji drank his reindeer milk.

2006.6.22 - 16:59

Manji planned to overthrow the Elite council. Manji formed a secret alliance between the bandits and warriors, and Manji and Dark Lord's forces moved out to Ellinia, Manji's excuse being "to secure the area further".

Chapter Four - The Reconiassance_

Hines, Athena and Dark Lord all knew about Manji's rebellion, and Dark Lord was pretending to join the rebellion to gain more information about him.

2006.6.25 - Dark Lord's message

"Report?" It was Athena.

"I have all the information I need, I think."

"Well then, tell me."

"Manji is planning to take siege of Orbis and use it as a Naval base, because it's technically the link to the rest of the world."

"And?"

"Manji plans to use my assassins to lead the first mission. I'm sure his plan will be aborted once my forces leave, long enough for us to take him prisoner and execute him."

"Good. And thank you."

Athena hung up.

Dark Lord walked out of his tent. A figure stood near the doorway of his tent.

It was Manji.

"Him.." he whispered.

Chapter Five - Dark Lord's Return_

Dark Lord saw Manji's warriors practicing with throwing knives.

"Planning to accompany my assassins?"

"Yes, if my army gets this down in a week, yes."

2006.7.1 - 131

Manji and Dark Lord stood at a high branch.

"ATTENTION!"

The army stood before them, weapons in hand, throwing stars and daggers in some, maces, swords, axes, spears and halberds in others.

"We...we are to be the rulers of this world! We are the Supreme alliance! We will defeat anyone standing in our way, eliminating EVERY last one of our enemy! The Fire Mage division will COWER under our Hermits and other classes!"

The army replied back:

"We will show no mercy to those who oppose us! We will make our name feared throughout the world! We are the Supreme alliance!"

"We fly into Orbis at dusk!"

The army shouted its battle cry.

2006.7.1 - 18:21

Dark Lord stepped into Manji's tent.

"We leave in 2 hours. Are you ready?"

"Yes," Manji replied. "But I'm not sure if you are.."

"Wha-"

Manji flung a throwing knife into Dark Lord's shoulder.

"You traitor! Your army is about to be executed."

Blood dripping from Dark Lord's shoulder, he said,

"What about the flight? How are you going to invade Orbis?"

"Fool. The announcement was not real. It was just to get you to believe that we were going to go."

Manji left.

Dark Lord pulled the knife out of his shoulder, and quickly wrapped a bandage around it. He walked out of his tent to hear the screams of the Thief army. Dark Lord ran to each and every one of the tents. He killed many of Manji's army, but there were just too many. Dark Lord was stabbed in his back.

Manji looked down at the dying Dark Lord.

"I'm not to be spied on. I'll be sure none of the information you have gathered goes to the Elite council."

Manji walked away, left Dark Lord and his army to perish.

Just as Dark Lord was about to pass, Hines doored himself to Manji's camp and stunned all of Manji's army, six by six. Dark Lord and his army were immediately doored to the infirmiry in the free market. Merchants and empty stalled filled the streets, as usual. Dark Lord muttered something, but he could not be heard.

2006.7.3 - 14:07

Dark Lord lay in his bed.. He sat up. He looked around him, to see over half of his army, still dying or injured.

"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINES!"

Hines walked in.

"What is it?"

"Manji's warriors...one division has mastered throwing knives. They will not need to use my Hermits."

"What? Then we must stop the attack immediately!"

Chapter 6 - Before the Invasion

2006.8.3 - 4:17

Manji left totally unexpectadly at dawn.

Back at Victoria, the sirens rang in every city, telling everyone to gather up the military and the militia.

"All members of the armed forces are required to fly to Orbis IMMEDIATELY!"

-at the Tower-

"Hunhwhattarbarqsawse!" Hines awoke to hear a siren.

Hines jumped from his chair. He looked outside, to see the free market militia running to the portal. Hines walked outside to see what all the hubub was. Immediately he was screamed at.

"HINES! YOU MUST COME TO ORBIS PORT! MANJI IS INVADING IT NOW!"

"What? How..nevermind. I'll be there. You just go."

Hines walked back into the tower.

"ATHENA!"

"What?"

"We must be at Orbis immediately. Manji has started his invasion."

"We haven't even had time to plan a strategy." Athena made a face.

"That doesn't matter. We must go!"

Athena and Hines prepared.

-at Orbis-

Thousands of Fire Mages and wizards, all carrying Kages, Dark Rituals, Evil Wings or Thorns, stood ready at Orbis. A few Ice Mages from El Nath had come to assist. A Priest gave word to them about the invasion. They were prepared. They stood opposite from Orbis port, ready to strike the Warriors from a distance. Their leader, Gundel, stood before them. THe leader of the Ice Mages, Ephraim, started talking strategy.

"As you may know, Manji the dreaded one has sent his spearman division from Perion to invade Orbis and take this land away from you Fire Mages."

A thousand shouts and roars emitted.

"We will NOT allow that to happen. I want the Lightning Mages ready near the top of the hill, ready to spear the warriors. I want explosion Fire Mages ready at the exit towards Orbis port. I want Composition Mages and Poison mages ready near town. You are our main unit. Ice Strike and Thunderbolt mages accompany the Explosion mages. The Spearman division will not take Orbis away from the Fire Mages!"

Roars.

"We are the Elemental Division of the Victorian Alliance! I believe that our code is to show no mercy, and to burn, freeze, shock, or poison all of our enemies to death. It may sound silly, but this code is our way of life.

Some of the younger members of the Division chuckled. Ephraim pointed at one.

"YOU!"

The laughter stopped. Everyone stood straight. Theif full attention was given to Ephraim.

"....yessir?"

"Get me me some cold water. It's blazing out here."

The lad went to fetch Ephraim his water.

2006.8.4 - 21:52

Ephraim practiced his Thunder spearing. Fira stood watching, as if he was trying to learn. But he was a Fire wizard, not even capable of a Poison Brace.

"Umm, mister Ephraim sir?"

"What is it lad?" -chuck-. The sound of static filled the garden.

"Is there..like anything for me to do during the mission? Like special?"

Fira, always wanting to be the hero.

"I'm afraid you're too young to even be a part of the Navy, son." -chuck-.

"Please? I'm really good!" Fira casted a fire arrow. One ring away from the Bull's eye.

Ephraim was impressed. -chuck- "I might consider". -smash-. Ephraim missed.

2006.8.4 - 231

"Ok, son. I'll give you a mission."

Ephraim stood at Fira's condominion door.

"REALLY?! THANK YOU! What do I do?"

Ephraim threw Fira a package.

"You deliver this to FrozenRage in Florina."

"That's it? I want to fight!"

Ephraim sighed. "After you get that to FrozenRage."

Fira moaned in disgust.
