Staff Im saying this cause Club sounds more melee based, and a staff would bring out magic better. I really dont know.

clubs = wands, but i already chose staves for better abilities

Thief? You'll have a hard time starting out as a THF, it'll only get useful once you get Sneak Attack and Treasure Hunter. It's your call really, I don't ignore a THF in parties since they do hit quite hard. Better than my MNK sometimes*mumble*.

I wish DRG was a starter class and wasn't ignored to heck too. I would "abandon" my MNK halfway at 30 and go DRG but i've heard no one wants DRGs. I don't really agree, every DRG i've partied up with were really kickass damage dealers.

Oh yeah! Does anyone have a guide to make some gil? I tried fishing but it's not that profitable.

Wands are for healing, as they boost healing done / gives you extra stats. And you can wear a shield with them 'cus you're a WHM. 8) Btw, you're on Sylph right? Got Xfire?
