You dont have to afford it, there are 4 ways to get to a knight,
the fastest is costly.
All of the stat guides are mainly Sta based, so I don't see how there is not sta on merc, but if you mean the Fastest Way to a Knight stat guide then yes, its basically how to get to a Blade only at the end you restat and you put in Knight builds
