Default Obama a Socialist you say

Well people will argue that a large amount of his beliefs are similar to those of a socialist, so I guess it is time everyone here talks about it, plus it gives time for those bashed on for liking McCain to bash on those who like Obama. (I'm nice aren't I =))
Simply put if this is to take place, anyone who posts for once must do one thing; actually contribute to the debate/conversation.
That being said, a post must contain informative information or a point of view that is based off of facts that are (A) not bullcrap and ( stay on topic.
That's all.

PS: Yeah I know I make a lot of political topics, only real thing that interests me outside of school and gaming atm.

I say it doesn't really matter what u wanna label anybody. Socialist or not, its the ideas that matter not a title like that. Titles only cause ppl to be generalized.

I was sort of in the middle when it comes to who I want to vote for. But after the past couple debates (including tonight) im leaning more towards Obama. I also really liked his plan to help kids pay for college a lot for sum reason. But both candidates have their ups and downs.

Answer: Yes

Reason: George Soros creams his panties at the mere mention of Obama's name.

Socialism is a way of thought.

You do realize that the payments for college come from taxpayers pockets?

I do believe Obama is a socialist. Take what he said just today or yesterday, he was talking to a plumber, and it went like this:

Quote:

Obama's reply:

Quote:
"... My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody. ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."
"Spread the wealth" around is the basic principle of socialism. Socialism punishes the free market system.

Edit: MotBL wins for posting the video of the quote I posted.

Besides displaying a flag of Che Guevara, he also received an endorsement from the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America for the state senate seat.

I don't hate socialists, but I would never condone it. (a ton of my friends are proclaimed socialists and most of my family including my parents are liberals)

Don't get me wrong, some things like the idea of egalitarianism are great...until you start referring to property and money.

My biggest qualm with an Obama presidency, is the probable move to even more of a nanny state.

*Note* Forgive me if at anytime I make no sense, I've been doing jagerbombs etc haha.

I don't really see how this is open to debate, especially when Obama consistently votes to the left of socialists like Bernie Sanders.

Take a look at the Global Poverty Act for example. Is taking money from wealthier nations and redistributing it to the poor not the textbook definition of socialism? Obama has stated more than once that the US will be participating in the GPA should he be elected president. Something tells me that Winston Churchill would not approve.

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill

Exactly. He talks about lowering taxes, yet wishes to submit to a global tax.

Not to mention the possible restrictions on our 2nd amendment rights that probably come along with submitting to the goals of the U.N.

obama looked real choked up at the debate today, and he seemd to dance around that apology mccain asked for,"since mccain didnt condone his supporters that reffered to obama as a terrorist'.I dont know why but obama just seems to act like a jerk at the debates.probly obama's worst debate.
Defntly could be considered socialist.
