Wow, Op, your ignorance is really high up there . . . you did very little research.

In fact, most anime is actually targeted to the teenage audience and up. Naruto, for example, is in fact a young teenage Tv show, it's just that the dubbing companies have started dumbing down the series and marketing it to a younger age group, like they do with most anime series.

I'm betting you have yet to see a true Japanese, subtitled anime. As Sandman pointed out, there are many genres out there, some of my favorite are the ones that trifle with your mind. Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan, for one, was an all around all audience, parody, anime which ended up being Gainax's latest success, enveloping excitement and tears all into a quick movie yet simple series.

There's also animes that ask you philosophical questions on life like, "Is the one who chooses the rid the world of evil evil himself?" (Death Note) or, "Are terroists really just enemies of a country with no country backing?" (Gundam 00)

To come in here and mock a terrific medium for excellent plot and art, how dar you.

Note: My parents don't like anime either. My father constantly yells out every time I laugh to a funny scene, "Shut Up, it's not funny," but of coarse I have to correct him, "how would you know, you aren't watching it." /sigh I can't wait to move out at the end of summer.
