Yes some people shun particular combinations but if you can make it work, then its good for your playstyle. In WoW in order to play your own way, you have to level alot, then follow a strict path of skills, closing yourself off to other opportunities, where in ffxi you have access to all skills up to your current level. Having said that, the talent system is more strict until you can reset your skill points.
you have to level up each job in final fantasy 11 and it takes longer to level each job.....and you dont close yourself off to other opportunities, you can go to a trainer and respec for a minimal fee......

I could probably level up 2 or 3 70s in the time it takes you to get one job to level 75. And most classes dont just follow one line of talents. Some of the best most successful specs have been invented by someone thinking outside the box and mixing 2 of the trees to a fantastic effect ( SL/SL warlock, restokin, cold blood/prep, PoM Pyro) You can choose to go all the way down one tree, but thats just the most obvious way to play.

As you said yourself most classes have a predetermined "best" subjob because it is what is most effective. That seems alot more limiting to me. I played final fantasy 11 for about a year also, so i do know what that game entails. ( it is a fun game and it has its positives i did not mean to directly compare to wow it was just an odd comment for hyarume to make knowing he plays the game.)

IMO all MMO's are pretty much the same. Click a button to kill monster X , go on quest G to get item T. Kill X number of monster's in quest C. It's not so much which one is the best as it is which one you like better. WOW IMO is just another generic MMO like all the others out there. It was just the first to get the generic formula right.

Next gen MMO: If they add in boots for Wii, MMO on Wii where you can literally jump with it.. will be awesome... But it will be very tiring

Currently, this thread offers the following.

1. One claiming that WoW is crap.
2. Another claiming that WoW is great.
3. One claiming WoW is a generic MMO yet can't come up with a game that's similiar to it, then goes on talking about MMO's definition and stick any MMO onto it.
4. Hyarume and few others sticking "WoW sucks replies" in between, then say WoW haters came about because there are so many people that comes online saying how they love WoW(wtf logic? Why do you gives a shit if they like WoW in the first place?).
5. All those people replying on this thread is actually advertising the game they are currently playing on their signature. :P

I was going to write a long paragraph how people are all contradicting themselves, but knowing this is onrpg where logic doesn't come through, I decided to put this instead.

But in all seriousness, WoW hating without logic needs to stop, but I guess this is the internet.

why i speak "proper english", because it's a habit from following an english minor at university, that's why. Are you going to have a retarded comment about that too ? if so, you might as well shut up in advance.

this entire thread, like any other WoW related thread ends up with a handful of ignorant fanboys who, by no means, have the braincells to make a descent conversation.
Othman, another to add to the neverending list of WoW-fanboy retards.
Your english SUCKS. I wonder what university you go to because your english is REALLY bad.

Also your just a WoW-hater. You probably haven't ever played it because it's PvP is better than most games even if it does suck it's better than ANY f2p game and better than most p2p games too not including WAR.

i really only defend wow because most people that hate it are ex wow players that are currently sick of it and desperately look for something new to play. Or they tried it, didnt get into it for whatever reason, and now hate it because its exponentially larger than any other mmorpg to date. If I found a new game i really liked id be really pissed too if the population was low because of wow sucking up all the mmorpg players.

But people need to stop flaming wow because its the most well rounded game on the market right now. Sure it doesnt get everything perfect, far from it actually. But it has everything down good enough so that other games cant really honestly compete.

I try out every single free to play and pay to play mmorpg that comes out. I realllly want to play a new game. I am even considering not buying Wrath of the Lich king because thinking about it, I have been playing this game for way too long. If a break from mmorpgs is what i need then fine i'll take it, but im not going to start flaming wow and defending every game i get into after it.

I dunno its just wierd how people act on the internet.
