Lot's of new RPG PBBG's have been released recently. Many more 2nd Gen PBBG's are under development, some of them look very promising. What follows is a list of my top 5 free RPG PBBG's (this list does not include strats). I'm interested in your opinion of any RPG PBBG's that I may have overlooked or that are new and still in need of a solid review. I'm currently looking at several games but I'm always looking for a second or third opinion. Bear in mind that this list is only the top 5 RPG's, my site lists the top 15, plus every known PBBG in a mammoth list (just in case you want to actually look at every single one - not recommended though it's time consuming and I've already done that for you)
The cream of the crop These are the best RPG PBBG's (Persistent Browser Role Playing Games) that are free, graphical, and contain a walkable world map. #1 Pardus: ![]() Pardus Review found here. #2 Runescape: ![]() Runescape Review found here. #3 Dogs of the Sea I.E. Only: ![]() Damned Isle review found here. #4 Fallensword: ![]() Fallensword Review found here. #5 Sherwood ![]() Sherwood article found here. For a complete list of all known 350+ PBBG's (and counting) visit my PBBG site. Yes Sherwood made the list. It's changed over the last 8 months and actually has a little content. Honestly it really does not have enough content to retain this position but since it's the only free 3D RPG PBBG I felt it earned some rank, at least until it gets bumped by something else. And who knows, maybe Maid Marian Devs will add more content. Oh, one more thing. If you do suggest a RPG PBBG for my list please ensure that it meets these requirements: 1) It has a walkable world map. This means you can actually move around the world and see your character, ship, or whatever. Exceptions are made for intensely well developed games. 2) It must be free, or feature a free version. It's okay if it also has a paid version but the free version must be enjoyable and not have any level restrictions otherwise it's just a free preview and that's not good enough. 3) Prefer the game be graphical. Graphical does not necessarily mean 3D (there is only 1 Free 3D PBBG anyway, that's Sherwood) but something more than just text. For example, Fallensword has some decent content and even though your character is represented by a mere dot on a map, that's still alot better than text.

Neon, feel free to elaborate, do a side by side comparison of both Runescape and Pardus and show me why Runescape should be #1. I'm not saying I disagree, I'm only saying that I need more than an opinion, I need to know how you arrived at your opinion.
BTW, Fragoria should probably be #1, but I just cant tell yet. Want to see the best looking and sounding PBBG in the world entirely in flash and do you feel up to a challenge? If so then you need to look at Fragoria.

You might give Pardus a fair shake, it has deep content, and the world is walkable.. I.E. your ship flies around space and is grahical based, though it is not animated like Runescape. Runescape would be #1 if it had content as deep as Pardus... content is king, but they are both good games though. Runescape kept my attention for 4 months.... by comparison, Pardus kept my attention for 2 years.
Try Fragoria, you will see much better animation than found in Runescape.

I have tried lands of hope, I like it, the problem though is that it is free only up to level 100 which can be obtained in 4 days rendering the game a paid game, my list is composed of free games, or games that include a playable and enjoyable free version without level restriction.
In total, I've looked at over 360 PBBG's to determine which RPG PBBG's I believe are the best, this I've done over the course of about 2 years. In some cases it's difficult to leave some games on the list because I'm personally bored with them having already played them over a period of time, but the list is intended to show the best, not show the flavor of the month... I'll be glad when Eldevin is open to Beta testing and I have no idea what happened to Vovins Fall, they were getting good press, then suddenly they stopped Beta and pulled the website but said they were still working on it and there have been no updates since then nor will they reply to any of my e-mails.

Runescape should be #1
Here is why. Runescapes popularity is much more known then Pardus. Runescape, has quite a bit of players. Runescape also manages to rip..I mean ask people to pay 5$ a month..and it works. I just heard of Pardus now, But I've known Runescape since I was like 10-11.
