He couldn't sell out a bingo hall in the modern day until Rick Rolling happened. Now he's going on a nationwide tour? Pfft, whatever. He's taking it to the bank, anyone thinking otherwise is a fool.

I doubt anyone thinks Rick isn't milking this for all he's got. However, since his new-found source of income is due to the rick roll meme, I don't think he holds much of a grudge against it.
As you said yourself, he'd hardly be able to hold a concert without it, and now he's touring.

Personally, to get renewed fame based on a being a joke is degrading. Then, this is the man who performed Never Gonna Give You Up. I suppose that's a bit like being anti-Bin Laden because, say, he cheats on his wife. The guy's done a lot worse.
