I have to say I like this forum after lurking awhile.
I was curious what people have enjoyed outside of anime where animated shows were actually as well constructed and/or just as mature in subject matter as anime. I'm also curious if countries outside of the US and Japan have done shows as good as the following. So far I have always held in high regard. Disney's afternoon lineup of Ducktales, Talespin, Gargoyles, Rescue Rangers Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Real Ghostbusters Batman TAS Justice League Beast Wars/Machines Reboot Mighty Max Fox comedy lineup of Simpsons/Family Guy(Season 1)/Futurama. Nickledeon lineup of Rugrats, Real Monsters, DOug Flintstones Thundercats Anything Pixar |

i can see where you're comming from
well remember all the great american classics came way b4 any anime was tall enough to even stand beside it, even though anime is really popular today, they can't really compete with the pioneers of quality animation that america produced back in the day think of it this way all anime is pretty much the same with slight variation to the animator's style the eyes are the same, way to the draw the hair like naruto vs bleach, there are loads upon loads of similar drawing techniques that contribute to the "anime" style however in american animations, things vary quite dramatically lets say...dexter vs hey arnold, the way the heads are drawn, characters are produced, everything had a complete different feel that gave American cartoon a more diverse range of animation types I think anime has just become more popular because of a good driving storyline and flashier effects other than that american animation still holds a high respect imo |

It's just that Japan didn't want their shows to be aired globally...
and the different head shapes and "variations" of American cartoons made them fugly compared to slightly variated anime characters (exept for animal/material characters) IMHO Quote:
even if its years later than the oldest american cartoon... its pretty impressive IMOI grew up watching Disney and Nickelodeon and because they were the only ones being aired in my country btw(early 90's)...
