**3: 30pm – Developer’s Panel
As the panel began, the audience was introduced to each of the members of the development team as they walked onstage. There were many announcements made during this hour-long presentation, which the audience cheerfully welcomed. **3: 35pm – Level Sync Adjustments [view the video here] The first topic in the panel was the Level Sync system, which was recently implemented in a previous version update. After many requests from the players to make parties easier to form, the development team went to work on adding several adjustments to the Level Sync system. One of these changes, is when a level synched player levels up, the party’s beneficial buffs will not disappear. TP will also no longer disappear. These changes will be added in the upcoming December version update. The team is also working on lessening the severity of lowered attributes on synced equipment. This will also mean that higher level endgame equipment will be more useful in level sync parties. In addition to adjusting the equipment scale, they will also be adding evasion bonus, enmity, and hp/mp while resting to the equipment scaling. They plan to carry out future modifications to this system, keeping gear for certain level ranges as well as the attributes for that gear in mind. They plan to bring these modifications to level restricted areas and things in general in an effort to keep the system smooth and enjoyable for all players. They ask that if anyone has any suggestions, to please submit them, and they hope players continue to enjoy the system. **3: 38 – Fields of Valor The development team begins the next topic by explaining previous methods implemented to make leveling up easier for players. Previously, experience points earned from monsters in the Easy Prey to Decent Challenge difficulty range was increased, to make soloing them more worthwhile. Now the team introduces a new method for earning experience and gil – the new Fields of Valor system. There will be new npc targets in several areas, in the form of a floating book.[image] This floating book is referred to as a “Field Manual”, and when a player examines one, several options are available, called “Training Regimes”. Selecting one of these regimes will offer different quest options, dictating what monsters and what type need to be killed and where to go. Upon completion of a quest, a player earns experience points, gil, and “tabs”. Tabs can be used to attain items, bonuses, food effects without the need to eat food, and others types of rewards. In order for a monster to count as a kill towards the quest, it has to be at the same difficultly level as a player, meaning it would have to regularly yield exp if killed without the quest. All of the quests are designed to be completed by solo players or a party, with about a 30 minute time limit. The team hopes that players with limited time are able to have a fun time with this new system. **3:42 – Treasure Caskets Another feature being introduced alongside Fields of Valor is the Treasure Caskets. The concept of the Treasure Caskets is similar to Fields of Valor in that it is designed to make the leveling process easier and more enjoyable, with a chance to earn rare rewards. players. After the December version update, defeating any enemy in the original 11 areas will yield a 1/10 chance of a treasure casket popping. [image] There are two types of caskets: Blue treasure caskets will yield temporary items players can use while leveling up, and brown treasure caskets will yield regular items, with a rare chance of finding new equipment only available in these caskets.[image] The catch to the brown caskets is that they are locked. Players must figure out how to get around these locks. The audience is then given a little inside information on these locks. In order to open these locks, players need to input a 2 digit code, ranging from 10 to 99. Guessing the correct number will unlock the casket, but players will have a limited number of attempts, from 4 to 6. If the player guesses incorrectly, there will be hints provided in the chat log. [image] There are several types of hints, such as the number being smaller or larger than what was guessed. Also, if a player’s main job is thief, they are able to use their tools to increase the chances of the casket opening. [image] Treasure Caskets along with Fields of Valor will initially be available only in the original 11 areas. Once they are released, and if the development team sees them become popular with the player base, they may expand these features to even more areas. Like the Level Sync system, they would love to have feedback from the players on these new features. Happy hunting! **3:48 – Wings of the Goddess Missions [view the video here] The team apologizes for the long wait, but players can expect a significant addition to the Wings of the Goddess storyline in the December version update. A recap of the last update’s missions. The audience is then given some visual teasers. [Onscreen: 1st image is of several Cait Siths sitting near a lake. 2nd image shows Lilisette fighting a large orc. 3rd image is of several key npcs standing in Jeuno. 4th image shows more key npcs in Jeuno, looking up at several tarutarus on a balcony above. 5th image shows gigas about to launch large boulders in Lower Jeuno.] Upon completion of the new missions, players will receive a new item. [Onscreen: Visual of a white and gold hanging flag with the Jeuno emblem.] This reward item affect campaign in some way they cannot reveal yet. [Onscreen: Image displayed is of a sinister looking woman who is in some way tied to the upcoming missions.] This character will come to play a very important role in the upcoming missions, and they hope players will come to meet her sooner or later. They also hope players enjoy the new missions. **3:53pm – Wedding Bells After a long wait, men’s formal attire is finally making its way to Vana’diel. [Onscreen: A hume male wearing the new attire. Image switches to elvaan male wearing new attire. Tarutaru attire and Galka attire are also shown.] When undergoing the wedding procedures, the suit will be available for purchase much like the wedding dress for a price of 50,000 gil. In addition to this, players that have already had a wedding in the past may also purchase the new attire for a limited time from an npc. The new attire will also be available via synthesis, with the recipes being introduced in the December version update. This is what they believe will be the final design, and they hope that players will look forward to it. (Part 2 of this panel coming soon!) Last edited by Vil; 12-26-2008 at 09:04 PM. |
