Default investigation between hermit and snipers' damage!

in my investigation i will be using same scrolls in same quantities to give fair test. i have choosen the perfect stats equipment for both hermits and snipers. the equipment btw is pretty godly so dont get ur hopes up and try and get this stuff cuz its pretty hard =)

Lvl 70 hermit

Dark scarab: base 38atk 7luk. Use 7 60% scrolls. = 52atk 7luk
Sauna Robe: 50dex
Gold rover: base +5 luk. Use 5 60% glove atk scrolls = 10atk +5luk
Red mystique shoes: base dex+1 luk+3. Use 5 60% shoe jump = 6dex 3luk
Blood night fox: 3luk 3dex
Cape: 10luk
Ilbi: 27atk

TOTAL
Dex = 59
Luk = 28
Atk= 89

Str = 4
Dex = 110 (51 +59)
Luk = 327 (291 + 28)
Int = 4

Lucky 7 (both stars + critcal included) = 7274 damage
lvl 1 shadow partner = 8800 damage

lvl 70 sniper

Gross Jaeger: base 87atk. Use 7 60% scrolls = 101atk
Dark Linnex: base 6dxex 3str. Use 10 10%overall dex scrolls = 56dex 3str
Dark elf shoes: base 1str 3dex. Use 5 60% shoe jump = 1str 8dex
Dark Eyes: Base 4dex. Use 5 60% glove atk scrolls = 10atk 4dex
Dark patriot: 5dex
Cape 10dex

TOTAL
Str = 5
Dex = 72
Atk = 111

Str = 70 (65+5)
Dex = 357 (285 + 72)
Luk – 4
Int = 4

Lvl 1 strafe = 9144 damage

Level 70 comparison: sniper wins on damage by (9144-8800) 344 damage



Lvl 80 hermit

Black mamba: base 45atk 6dex. Use 7 60% scrolls = 59atk 6dex
Sauna Robe: 50dex
Dark pirate shoes: base 2dex 3luk. Use 5 60% jump scrolls = 7dex 3luk
Blood larceny: Base 2dex 4luk. Use 5 60% glove atk = 10atk 2dex 4luk
Dark pireta hat: 4luk 2dex
Cape: 10luk
Ilbi: 27atk

TOTAL
Dex = 67
Luk = 18
Atk = 96

Str = 4
Dex = 120 (53 + 67)
Luk = 347 (329 + 18)
Int = 4

Lucky 7 (both stars + critical throw) = 8324 damage
Max shadow partner = 12486 damage

Lvl 80 Sniper

Dark raven: base 87atk. Use 7 60% scrolls = 106atk
Dark pris: base 7 dex 2str. Use 10 10% dex overall scrolls = 57dex 2str
Dark wing boots: base 5dex. Use 5 60% jump scrolls = 10dex
Dark Gordon:base 4dex 2str. Use 5 60% glove atk = 10atk 4dex 2str
Dark falcon: 6dex
Cape 10dex

TOTAL
Str = 4
Dex = 77
Atk = 116

Str = 80 (76 + 4)
Dex = 402 (324 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe = 14168 damage

Level 80 comparison = snipers win on damage by (14168 - 12486) 1682 damage.


LETS USE DRAKES BLOOD! ^^

Lvl 80 hermit

TOTAL
Dex = 67
Luk = 18
Atk = 104 (96 + 8)

Str = 4
Dex = 120 (53 + 67)
Luk = 347 (329 + 18)
Int = 4

Max shadow partner = 13530 damage. Improved damage by 1044.

Lvl 80 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 4
Dex = 77
Atk = 124 (116 + 8)

Str = 80 (76 + 4)
Dex = 402 (324 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe = 15144 damage. Improved damage by 976.




We use same equipment as lvl 80 but add on the ability points from 80-90 AND drakes blood

Lvl 90 hermit

TOTAL
Dex = 67
Luk = 18
Atk = 104 (96 + 8)

Str = 4
Dex = 120 (53 + 67)
Luk = 397 (379 + 18)
Int = 4

Max shadow partner = 14887 damage. 14887 – 13530 = 1357

Lvl 90 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 4
Dex = 77
Atk = 124 (116 + 8)

Str = 80 (76 + 4)
Dex = 452 (375 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe = 16928 damage. 16928 – 15144 = 1784



We use same equipment as lvl 90 but add on the ability points from 90-100 AND drakes blood

Lvl 100 hermit


TOTAL
Dex = 67
Luk = 18
Atk = 104 (96 + 8)

Str = 4
Dex = 120 (53 + 67)
Luk = 447 (429 + 18)
Int = 4

Max shadow partner = 17433 damage. 17433 – 14887 = 2546


Lvl 100 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 4
Dex = 77
Atk = 124 (116 + 8)

Str = 80 (76 + 4)
Dex = 502 (425 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe = 18720 damage. 18720 – 16928 = 1792

As you can see from lvl 80-90, snipers damage increase compared to hermit is +427 but from lvl 90-100, snipers damage increase compared to hermit is -745 or a 1172 decrease.

Although snipers damage at lvl 100 is higher than a hermit I can predict that hermit’s damage will slowly increase and surpass snipers damage.

p.s this isnt something to put people off making a sniper or ranger its just something ive seen crop up at sleepywood forums and it really bugged me so i decided to investigate this.

I don't dissagree with your results, but which skill is faster? L7 or Strafe? Also, I find it hard to believe that each high leveled assassin will have ilibis, but I do believe that high leveled xbowmen would be in contact with all that you've listed. So on average, an xbowman would do even higher damage.

Also in the same sense, if a sin is using ilibis why not have the permium for the xbowman? Steel arrows could be used.

Nice investigation. I thought about making a crossbowman and this really answered my question too.

i kno snipers fire strafe at 80 shots per minute. but apprently Lucky7 fires at 90 shots per minute im not sure on that tho so i didnt include speed test.

i dont use steel arrows only cuz u have to be kinda realistic. u'll never find a sniper not using soul arrow. and steel arrows DO NOT WORK WITH SOUL ARROW! and making and carrying steel arrows is a ***** and i dont kno any person to use steel arrows while training. but i'll do calculations with steel arrows now:-

lvl 80 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 5 (4 + 1)
Dex = 77
Atk = 124 (116 + 8 + 1)

Str = 80 (75 + 5)
Dex = 403 (325 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

max strafe + steel arrows = 15304. improvement of 256 damage.

lvl 90 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 5 (4 + 1)
Dex = 77
Atk = 125 (116 + 8 + 1)

Str = 80 (75 + 5)
Dex = 453 (376 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe + steel arrows =17104. improvement of 176 damage


lvl 100 sniper

TOTAL
Str = 5 (4 + 1)
Dex = 77
Atk = 125 (116 + 8 + 1)

Str = 80 (75 + 5)
Dex = 503 (426 + 77)
Luk = 4
Int =4

Max strafe + steel arrows=18904. improevement of 184 damage

as you can see steel arrows make minor differences in strafes damage.

this all sounds good on paper.. but do u know how often archers actually hit 4 criticals? ive seen it happen.. twice..

its very rare.

i kno that as i am a sniper as well. but they get 3criticals and 2 criticals very often.

the probabilty of strafe's critical goes as follow:-

0critcals - 0.1296 * 100 = 12.96% chance
1critical - 0.3456 * 100 = 34.56% chance
2criticals - 0.288 * 100 = 28.8% chance
3critcals - 0.192 * 100 = 19.2% chance
4criticals - 0.0256 * 100 = 2.56% chance

hermit's lucky 7 + shadow partner however is :-

0critcals - 25% chance
1critical - ungettable
2critcals - 50% chance
3criticals - ungettable
4criticals 25% chance

for people that dont know. at max lvl shadow partner. if you do 2000 2000 shadow partner will do EXACTLY half of that. so your end damage will be 2000 1000 2000 1000 and every 1 critcal you do counts as 2 so thats y it is impossible to get 1 or 3 criticals.

if we take these percentages and for example and we use 1700 as there highest damage on their stat screen and we ignore lowest damage on stat screen. critical remember is +100%.

0critcals - 12.96% chance 1700+1700+1700+1700 = 6800
1critical - 34.56% chance 3400+1700+1700+1700 = 8500
2criticals - 28.8% chance 3400+3400+1700+1700 = 10200
3critcals - 19.2% chance 3400+3400+3400+1700 = 11900
4criticals - 2.56% chance 3400+3400+3400+3400 = 13600

so we know from lvl 70-100 snipers are technically stronger. so if we use 4000 as there lucky 7 damage and half there damage as shadow partner

0critcals - 25% chance 2000+1000+2000+1000 = 6000
1critical - ungettable
2critcals - 50% chance 4000+2000+2000+1000 = 9000
3criticals - ungettable
4criticals 25% chance 4000+2000+4000+2000 = 12000

as you can now see although hermits damage is weaker than snipers based on percentage of how many criticals they get gives a different set of results.

hope this clears some more bits up ^^
