Naruto is going downhill. The author made Pein so strong that he manage to kill off Jariya and Kakashi.

1. Jiraiya never knew Pain had six bodies. It's not that he couldn't win, it's that Pain had a trump card.
2. He is NOWHERE near as strong as Jiraiya is, and took a while to figure it out. Unfortunately, he figured it out too late. He also didn't even know that the guy could see through his other corpses' eyes until the latter half of the fight. It was pretty much an uneven match against two omniscient enemies.

Oh, just to get this straight: Pain didn't kill Kakashi, it was depleting his life force so that Choji could escape that killed him.

Naruto has been going downhill for quite awhile. But yeah, killing off those two wasn't the best thing he could've done. I was pretty disapointed.

Ah well Pain is going down sooner or later. If Jiraiya was better prepared for the fight, he would have won it. He just needed more information on Pain.

But yeah, Kakashi dying was kinda unexpected. I was hoping he could keep Pain busy until help arrived.

Why, what is wrong with this thread?

1. Well using element of surprises is the way of the ninja. Yes, even if Pein is weaker than Jariya, he use tactics that gives him the advantage. That is the true meaning of power.

2. Well being able to push Kakashi to deplete his life force is pretty damm good for a villain.

1. lolwut. That was a response to your moot point concerning Pain's strength. He wouldn't have won had Jiraiya known about all 6. Meaning, he's not overpowered. He has specific weaknesses.
2. Kakashi was a scrub. That's not "pretty good," considering the fact that Naruto had actually gotten stronger than him at the beginning of the second series.

1. Hes not overpowered? You even said that it wasn't a fair fight between Jariya and Pein because he has six body that can see through each other. The fact stays the same. Jariya didn't know that Pein has six body. He lost.

2. Kakashi is still a great asset. So what if Naruto has gotten stronger? He has a legendary fox that gives him massive energy.

I wouldn't say Pain is overpowered. He's got the Rinnegan, so he's obviously not gonna be some pansy. However, he's pretty limited in that once you figure out what each body does, his advantage decreases quite a bit. Keep in mind that he's probably the final boss. (seriously, Kishi better not pull some 'oh look, a villain stronger than Pain' crap)

Final bosses are supposed to be powerful (here's lookin at you Square.. lame *** final bosses), it'd be lame if Naruto just walked in and took him out like a punk. Anyway.. I would say that Jiraiya was stronger than Pain, he walked in knowing absolutely nothing, and still managed to learn Pain's secret, a good deal of his powers, and kill off 3 bodies. If Pain had pulled all 6 from the start, Jiraiya probably would have pulled off a victory.
