Mass Effect, though, is by far my favorite game, and of course, RPG. |

Maybe it is in Japan, but it hasn't been released in the US. A quick check on Gamespot show absolutely no reviews. |

The Last remnant is great but very very hard. The Gap between normal fights and a boss fight is kinda crazy but its because your supposed to do quests and accumulate a decent team before jumping into a big fight. The slowdowns are slightly annoying but only a real inconsiderate person will drop the game because of it.
Storyline is great, Fights are TACTICAL (new one right?) and fun especially with the critical and counter mechanism. O and if your playing on HD its a real stunner especially in fights.

Problem is, is that it would be FF13 not FF14 and it's not out anywhere.
I always thought mass effect was a shooter game, it is a RPG? Well my next RPG was going to be Eternal Sanada on 360 so that works, as well as LR but since it's new (even though I saw a new one fr $40 at game stop iono why tho) I will get it soon. Any other suggestions would be great or debate on which ones are good / bad.

Mass effect is like oblivion. FPS/RPG. I have played a little of it, but I have this issue of hating FPS games on consoles.
Basically the 360 games have all been mentioned here, so I am not going to go into those. I would like to point out that if your a Kingdom Hearts fan that Kingdome Hearts RE: Chain of Memories was released on the PS2. Basically a port of the GBA game to the PS2 and it fits in between KH and KH2. I have the game but have yet to play it, but I believe they use a card system. Also you have both Persona 3: FES and Persona 4, classic JRPG's and fantastic games and Persona 4 is an excellent RPG to close the era of the PS2 (Yes... I believe the PS2's time has come). Also if you do have a PS2 there are plenty of Tales games out there for it, and all the Tales games are solid RPG's imho. You have: Tales of the Abyss Tales of Legendia Tales of Destiny (PSX) Tales of Destiny II (PSX) And then of course you have Tales of Vesperia which is a very good RPG for the 360. |

If you wanted to get all technical, it would be an excellent hybrid of Third Person Shooter and RPG, but it is still most definitely an RPG. You shoot your weapon, but how much damage you deal with your weapon, how accurate it is, how much recoil there is, and how many shots you can fire before your gun will overheat are based on your skill in that particular class of weapon, as well as having access to specific abilities (such as my favorite, Lift). As you put points that you gain upon levelling up, your effectiveness with these abilities also increase. Of course, you can play it as a soldier if you choose the Soldier class, but I recommend playing it with the classes that have abilities or one of the hybrid classes. Comparing Mass Effect to Oblivion is like comparing Final Fantasy to Baldur's Gate. Oh yes, they're RPGs, but the similarity ends there. Mass Effect has an awesome storyline, that although gets cliche and is a little predictable, is extremely well told. It is placed in a very realized setting, that if you take a step back and examine it, has an extreme amount of detail that makes it a very absorbing game. Oblivion, on the other hand, really has neither. The storytelling is uninspired and the setting is just bland fantasy. And Oblivion isn't a sandbox game like Oblivion, it's pretty much linear, although there are some pretty awesome moral choices. Yeah, Mass Effect is one of the best Western RPGs for console, made extremely well. It's a whole different beast from Oblivion and Fallout, so you can't really compare them, nor from JRPGs. Really, you can only compare it to other RPGs Bioware has made, such as Jade Empire (great game) and Knights of the Old Republic (great game, also.) Edit: oh yeah, Jade Empire is an awesome game for the first Xbox. Sadly, it's very short, but they pack in so much that it's a fun ride. No filler, which is a good thing.
