I agree, although I think what makes Runescape so popular is the fact that you can make an account and not have to worry about making it downloadable, you can just play it on any computer, since most of it's community is under 21, they have to travel and use different computers or their families if under 18. But I do agree with the fact that they could get rid of free playing and they would loose some people and popularity but it would not matter much because of the fact that their income is based off of the member community and the advertisement on their website. I think that it would also encourage all of the free players to become members too, so that would be a plus on their side since Runescape is so addictive. Also you cannot find many other good 3d browser based 2D or 3D games that are not text based. I have been looking for some time now and not found any other 3D browser based games like Runescape that are F2P/P2P or both.
