How many newbies would know what note to change it to? And as much as reading sheet music might help, sheet music could be just as wrong as the tabs.

Guitar Pro/Power tab, just plays out the tab on the computer, if the tab is wrong, you can tell when it plays it back, and you can tell yourself, no its not just me getting the timing wrong, or not bending the string enough or whatever, the tab is just plain wrong. It's a tool to help. I dont see how it harms the playing in anyway.

I think I see what your problem is, you did it the hard way, and you feel everyone else has to go through the same effort as you did to make yourself feel justified.

EDIT: at popsai, I myself use guitar pro to read the tabs, and I also have a youtube window open at the same time with the actual song. I think we all realise the computer generated sounds wont be perfect, but I think expecting a new player to adjust for notes is a bit much, specially considering how much different guitars can differ in sound. You may be playing the right notes, but your guitar may just be out of tune, or it may just sound different, or the song may simply require different tuning. Making adjustments cos it doesn't sound the same as the studio recorded track when you're just starting to play sounds like a bit much, dont you think?
Yes it will be harsh, but like i said, it will pretty much force you to train your ear.

No, you're missing my point entirely. My point is not that newbies should just learn by ear. My point is that, use tab, but don't use too often. Change what it should change, experiment with your ear, instead of using 100% of the tabs.
You know that E---7--- is also equal to A----2----? It's a B note.

Did I say it harms the playing of any newbie guitarist? DID I?
My opinion stating that using tabs will not last long. I mean, when you are a professional guitarist, you'll still be using tabs? If you start to train your ear in the early stage, you'll eventually be the next Jimi.

Yeah? For your information, when I was a newbie, I used tab. I always use it. Until one of my friend's friend played guitar while not looking at tabs. I mean he just listen to a song once, and he know what to strum and etc2.

The fact you just said that make you look like you're losing in this argument.

And fuk, I miss the silver sufer.

Hey, I am new to this so I thought I would start on this post. Surely you can not mean a normal guitar slide, because they are really simple. Being a bassist and a guitarist I know. Slap Bass on the other hand is very tricky, it is taking me ages, been using the lessons, http://www.howtoplaybass.co.uk/slapbass.html and I have been using the metronome, http://www.howtoplaybass.co.uk/metronome.html to keep in time.

Now we are on the subject can anyone tell me the easyest way to slap bass.
