Thats not to say nightfall can't be played seperate, but heros really ruined the game, and the story and gameplay is pretty mediocre until torment. (This is comming from a guy whose completed all three in hard mode)

If you have any plans to PVP, Prophecies is probably the last one on your list. Nightfall has the most powerful skills, and factions has many of the most useful ones. Eye of the north has absolutely required skills for almost every profession, though a very limited number total. (I know one guy who has all campaigns but not eotn, and in gvg, the only position he can play is hammer warrior because of that.)
my freind, heros did not ruin the game. If anything it made it better for people who didnt want to deal with stupid retards who dont know how to play. and they are only good in pvp in hero battles or hero-way in gvg and hero way is used till champ range then its balanced or spike. pve wise, just for solo or fillers if there are a lack of players.
Back on topic get proph, alot of fun to be had in it. but highly unavisded to pvp without getting NF and factions, if you do go in without, be expected to be hard to get in groups unless its random arenas.

Heros make it impossible to find groups in pve any more in endgame. Everything is guild based now. I can't remember the last time I had an eight man party in pve. Hero-way dominates HA hands down right now. It defeats the gimmick fame farms easily, and a SH or lingering curse is more than enough to dominate the later maps.

I like hero battles, but the format is stale. The continued dominance of HaO R/P's is enough proof of that. The format is undisputedly dominated by sins, and a couple godly monks. Every once in awhile you see a warrior or competent mesmer, but thats about it. (Ever since I started packing spirit bond over prot spirit, I haven't lost to a single hex based build, which says something about the ineffectiveness outside of those physical classes)

I just wish that The Rebith would quit messing around with fail builds and go kick rawr's ***. rawr and KMD have held the top for far too long now. (KMD seems to be slipping though).

At least I don't have to argue about prophecies dominace of PVE =D.

Good luck!
Isn't Guild wars eye of the north gw 2? I have eye of the north, nightfall, and factions, and game of the year edition.

I think Guildwars 2 is not out yet...it should be something different than eye of the north.

I bought factions first and bought the others soon after. The original guild wars has the most content and is the largest out of the others, [Factions and NF, not sure on EotN b/c I dont have it].

Nope its just a pre-qual before GW2. 2010-2011 GW2 might be launched since ANet hasnt given any specific date. But we can always hope they will get it done earlier or implement more of their ideas and the communities ideas.

No its not. Both EotN and GW2 were announed in the same article in PC gamer, but they are most definatly not the same game. GW2 is an entirely new engine, and seperate game. EotN is just an expansion.

If I remember rightly, Prophecies is the longest game. Most missions, etc. I could be wrong.

Prophecies has 25 missions, NF 20, and Factions 13. That said, prophecies is the fastest to get through if you know what you're doing. The only required missions are thunderhead keep, ring of fire, abbadon's mouth and hell's precipice. Iron mines makes it much easier, but all the others can be skipped.
Nightfall and factions require all of the missions to be completed. It should be noted though that missions aren't everything. (I would argue that NF is the longest and hardest campaign, though the required quests are exceedingly annoying)

All the campaigns have access to the underworld and fissure of woe, but factions is extremely hard to get to them from. NF is easier, but finding a group is nearly impossible, making prophecies really the only one with good access to them. As for other endgame areas, prophecies is at a bit of a disadvantage. It has tombs of primeval kings, and sorrows furnace. Both are alot of fun, but the rewards are negligable. Factions has The Deep and Urgoz Warren, the only 12-man pve areas in GW, they're also some of the hardest areas. (especially the deep) Rewards aren't great there either.

Nightfall has the Domain of Anguish, which I consider to be hands down the hardest are in GW. I have never sucessfully completed a single quest there. Tormented weapons can be made there, and are some of the most prized items in any of the games.

I hope this comparison helps, I still recomend prophecies because it has (in my opinion) the best storyline, and gameplay prior to endgame areas. Also, you level as you go in prophecies whereas the other campaigns require you to be level 20 after the first 2-4 missions.
