If your going to overclock get a better CPU Cooler... A lot of people in this thread say overclocking will shorten the life of your CPU but that ain't entirely true... Higher heat rates are what cause CPU's to have shorter lives and overclocking does increase heat in your CPU that stock coolers cant handle but that's where a aftermarket CPU coolesr comes in to save the day...
A really good aftermarket CPU cooler could make your CPU just as cool or cooler at overclocked speeds than a CPU with a stock cooler at stock speeds... You also can lower the Vcore voltage on your CPU that drops temps even further... You just have to find a stable Vcore voltage by testing it.. Lowering your CPU Vcore wont hurt your CPU but making it higher can if you don't have the proper cooling... People usually only raise the Vcore when they want to extreme overclock I have a Quad Core Q6600 CPU and it's stock speed is 2.4ghz... I overclocked it to 3.0ghz and it's running cooler than it did with the stock cooler with the CPU at 2.4ghz thanks to a HUGE aftermarket CPU fan called the Thermaltake V1... It also helped that I lowered my CPUs Vcore down some which makes less voltage so in turn less heat.. ![]() ![]() ![]() My V1 cooler^^^^ If everything in your computer case has enough cooling they will last as long as stock speed computers that aren't overclocked..

i dunno why there is '4 page' discussion regarding OC on dell computer.
answer is simply 'no' you can't OC dell motherboards. They simply won't let you OC at all. (if it is a dell computer.) However, you can OC graphic card.. but minimal/maximum gain of fps is very little. You have Q8200 processor... lower end of QuadCore line. but you shouldn't have any problem using it. Assassin's Creed is lagging because your graphic card simply sucks =x 3450 is used for home theater computers.. where you can play VIDEOS without any problem. It is not gaming graphic card... go grab a nvidia 8800, 9600 line or ati hd3870, hd3850 for good and affordable solution. |

just a reminder for OP.
you may have to replacement a power supply when you get better graphic card. as long as you don't buy top-of-the-line video card.. you shouldn't have to replace it. but i wouldnt know 100%.. since i have no idea what kind of PSU(power supply) you have. |
