Some hardware give you the option of OC easily by configurating it with the software they give you to pop into your pc.

Anyway, if you're OC manually, I highly suggest you don't, because a person that is new at OC will probably mess it up and destroy a perfectly fine piece of hardware.

From what I see, a lot of members in ONRPG are very tech hadicapped, more than 75% of the people that have problem with a certain game most of the time play with an onboard graphic card, which is 99% of the time not made for video gaming or playing high end game. On board graphic processors are for watching videos and pictures, that's all it was intended for. >.>

I can guarantee you that more than 50% of the people here that claim they have a good pc is actually running either a weak pc or a strong one with a crappy graphic card. They think just because they can go out there and buy a pc with quad core and 6 gigs of RAM will make them own a good computer, but no, because they are still playing wtih an integrated graphic card, which mean lower game performance and limitating them to cheap F2P game or some older game that don't demand a lot of power.

From what I see, the OP is packing a very weak power source too, so when upgrading your graphic card you will need to check the wattage of your power supply, since most good graphic card will require 400 up to 600 watts. From what i see, 99% of pc with an onboard graphic processor tend to have a weak power source, since the onbaord card doesn't require much power to run good.

My suggestion is to aim for an Nvidea GeForce card, don't go for Radeon since I've personally experience a lot of trouble with ATI's cards, and seen much better performance and durability on Nvidea cards. I'd recommend getting a 8800 or 9800 from XFX, EVGA or BFGtech.

Also, if you're buying hardwares, don't go to bestbuy or target, or any retailers. They charge you a lot more sometimes, look online first always before you decide to go and buy them from store shelf, then you can compare price.

www.newegg.com <<<<<<<< BEST site, hand down, for your pc stuff, i've hard very good experiences with newegg, do your online shopping there.

Overclocking is a free performance upgrade provided you do it right.

I'm running on an Athlon 64 x2 5000+ Brisbane.

The default clock is 2.6 GHz.
I'm running at 2.99 GHz on stock cooler. (I'm planing on upgrading so I can push it further.)

Quad-Core won't help you in games that don't support it.

Don't buy intel or nvidia unless you have money to burn.

I chose the Radeon HD 4870 256 bit 512MB GDDR5 for my rig.

Yes newegg is the bomb, sign up for their newsletter - you will end up buying something every week.

Overclock your computer only if you have sufficient components, i.e an aftermarket cooler for your processor, new thermal paste, get some alcohol (Arctic, the brand makes some good thermal paste removers).

Also, learn your BIOS, from there you can OC it easily.

Quad core is and will be the norm very soon, with GTA IV leading the bunch as a Quad-core (pretty much required) game.

Ok i think that maybe im wrong.. but he just want to play assassins creed with good graphics and smoothly.. what you have to do is buy a new video card. Your actual video card can't play AC in high graphic settings, so forget about OC. Just buy a new videocard. i think that an ati 4830 would do it. Or if you like geforce well an 9800gt would be ok. So please stop posting about OC since that is not the issue. Even if his quad reach 4.5ghz he won't be able to max the game.

PD: i had also sync problems when playing AC. In battles, sword sounds were out of sync even with good framerate.

PD2: My english is awful

vista vs xp (and a bit of windows 7) from my experience

i cant do anything on vista due its protection
you all said xp wasnt protected enough
now you say its overprotected
pick you choice, at least you can disable the UAC and install on top of that another antivirus
if youre a real protection freak, leave the UAC on, it can run everything with it although you may need to wait some time when downloaded a big install file (why i dont know, vista probably scans it)

games that dont run
xp: 0
vista now: 0
vista back in the days: 2 with tweaking, 1 without
xp back in the days: same scenario as vista, **** xp! im sticking to 98 because xp cant run shit! now they say **** vista! im sticking to xp because vista cant run shit! WRONG it can now even without tweaking

digital rights manager:
i never got a message saying i cant install a particular game or app

you dont own vista:

go buy a game... do you own it? no, you only got a license to install it, same thing with vista

vista needs 5 terrabyte ram a quantum processor and 4 ati 4870's in crossfire to run the bare minimum!

look at the hardware they sell now, its way above the limit to run vista decent

friend ran games on an amd le1650 (singlecore 2.4ghz cpu), 2gb ram and an ati x1550
he ran bioshock and hellgate london without a single problem

vista is bugged as hell!

in the beginning it did, so did xp
sp1 solved alot of problems and has left a small amount of bugs

yes! but there still are bugs!
go back to the kindergarten seriously
every program has bugs, no program will be ever bug free
xp still has bugs, so does the latest linux and macs
kill an old bug, a new one pops up
your mmo/game has them, your media player has them, your drivers have them
there always will be one, wether you like it or not

dont bother with vista, wait for windows 7
well, cant really say much
but it isnt worth the wait if you only want to modabble kernel
the current version wont have the kernel however it MIGHT get it
but for now, it wont

so what! w7 will pwn the shit out of vista!

w7= vista repackaged, there isnt THAT much difference, especially since the kernel wont be coming with it at his moment

only reply if you post a good counter
(by looking at what i wrote, im awaiting your replies, mr fabiann, arri and ronin saying i will be probably wrong about some stuff, but thats why i said from my experience)

/endrant

The moment you start to over-clocking your Dell support warranty on the system will be invalid. So if you don't plan on ever using their warranty, go ahead. But the moment you start, any part that may ever break while the system would technically be under warranty, you'll have to pay to get fixed.

And SnOwBunZz, you still don't have a clue whats wrong with Vista. DOn't worry, most people don't.
I could go on and on, listing problems, but I'll just tell you two.
One: On an XP system there was a dialup issue. It returned the "wrong username/password" error. I tried the connection on a Vista system. You know what vista tells oyu when theres an error? "Dialup connection not working". It tells you NOTHING more. Just that it's not working, but not why it's not working. And the whole error reporting system is like that. They tell you that it's broken, but keep the important information hidden.
Then another bug that I hate is the one where upon shut-down a sector that identifys the NTFS partition, Vista will sometimes break that sector. That means that all the data on the drive is lost. You can't recover. It's just gone.
This is still present in Vista, past SP1, and theres no fix.

I understand there are bugs. But a bug that wipes out all your data? Thats not acceptable.

And really, I could go on and on for days on the problems with a Vista SP1 system.
Most people just take the tech's word and don't know why, but the techs, when they say Vista sucks, they do know what they are talking about.

thats why i said i was expecting a reply for you
ill try to remember this though (want to suck up more info about this as i can) but it seems really more advanced problems then simple

all the people i know wich have vista installed, say its great, and ive only got one reply that said vista was bad, and he knows enough on pcs
and even more replies that theyll never revert back to xp, one did but he keeps a dual boot, win vista for the usual stuff, and xp only for the games

ill try to get my hardware teacher to reply on this

though alot of people look at what posted

my cousin said that windows vista sucks, and so i asked him why
the only reply by him was that vista couldnt run shit
i said thats history now but he keeps refusing for that one reason
