Newbie Island?

I looked at the map of GW Factions and noticed that you start on a large island but there is a huge mainland to the right so can you go there or is it just to add to the map. If you can go there does that mean the island ís newbie island?

yup, the island is the newbie island, after that you get on the mainland

the frist is a newbie island and then when you go to main land you can not go back
