Yeah, The Who was playing a set and Keith Moon passed out from the ketamine he'd taken earlier in the evening. Some random guy in the crowd stood in on drums. Very cool story.

Yes, he was a huge addict... Point?

EDIT: LOL Saint I have. I've seen everything related to the Who.
That was very close to his death, I beleive though due to his weight gain and hyper aging from drugs.

Civil...

Hardly anybody knows Keith Moon? I don't mean to be rude, but it's clear you either live on Neptune or purposely surround yourself with ignorant people to boost your own ego.

The man is one of the most famous drummers in history.

Furthermore, you're all aware he didn't die from drug abuse, right? He died as a result of an allergic reaction to pills he was using to help get OFF drugs.

I'm saying Led Zeppelin was the greatest rock band of all time because they define what a rock band is. Yeah, they took a lot of their songs from delta blues musicians in the 1930's, but they brought it to electric and changed it around quite a bit.

No one toured as outrageously as Led Zeppelin did. They were the first band to beat out The Beatles for the number one spot in a popular music rag of the time (Melody Maker?) in ten years. They were and still are the stuff of legend. It is hard for me to imagine anything like the Led Zeppelin machine existing in the world today. I think Led Zeppelin will live on long after Rush, Queen, and The Who are long forgotten.
I wasn't specifically saying you, sorry if I gave you that impression. It just happens a lot on this forum, and this thread.

I know precisely what Led Zeppelin did, I've been listening to them longer than most people on this board, I was just making a general point about tastes.

Winning polls or chart events means nothing, really. Especially in Melody Maker.

That said, Rush were never anything more than the world's biggest cult band. They remain that way even today. The Who were good, but always overshadowed by the better bands.

Well, to be more specific, Moon died of a drug overdose from pills he was taking for alcohol abuse. He had so many in his system that they found some undissolved in his stomach. Townshend later talked about how it was Moon's bad habit of just taking handfuls of pills.

Lars SUCKS. Particularly on Death Magnetic. All his fills are like sixteenth snare hits, and he doesn't ever really do anything special.
