It all has to do with eliminating possibilities. The first card obviously figures out if your number is odd or even. The second one figures out if your number if your number is multiple of 4, or if it's odd then it also eliminates possibilities, etc. I could make a complicated chart depending on if your number's properties but that would be a really big chart.
