Planescape: Torment is an awesome game, just keep this in mind:

The focus of the game is the conversation and setting, NOT the action. And get 18 Wisdom at the start, because believe it or not, it's the most important attribute in the game.

Not really it's a pretty terrible game that is game when you play it because the combat is extremely poor and anything involving more than clicking dialogue trees is a pain in the ***(terrible interface design). Baldur's Gate 2 is for people who want to have the cake and eat it too while PS:T well you get the idea....It's got an unbelievablly good story at most though it's really just a book...

STOP TALKING!

Planescape Torment is the most amazing example of interactive storytelling that exists. Enourmous depths of the most exciting and moving story are buried in this game. It was only on my 3rd or 4th play that I even understood some of the deeper background.

The whole universe of Torment is constantly shifting sea of moral diversity, with the idea of belief itself changing the physical world running throughout.

The joy of slowly uncovering your characters past, and realising that it goes back a lot further than you could possibly have thought, and is filled with great deeds and incredible evils is, in my opinion, the greatest peice of entertainment on the PC.

PLAY IT.

PS: Did anyone else hang on to that gold orb (that Pharod makes you get) all the way until the end where you find out what it really is?

For some reason on the computer I'm playing it on, the spells in Planescape:Torment appear as giant yellow blocks. As the spells apparently are supposed to look quite good, that was kind of disappointing.

Also, yeah, the combat system isn't very good.

The story is pretty great so far, though, as people have said, and I'm willing to forgive quite a bit for that, personally.
