But using a shadow clone to keep a reserve of sage chakra, like wow. Man if he were to make endless shadow clones like that he could be in sage mode forever.

My guess is that he only needs a few to keep going forever. Although the frogs need to keep summoning him. Also once he learns to control the 9-tailed beast sasuke won't be able to beat him considering sasuke had a hard enough time against bumblebee.
