I don't know what hit my PC, but whatever it was... shit was crazy. I was on one morning, browsing as usual. All of a sudden, my firefox locks up and my PC jizzles, which has not happened since I recently purchased... when I restart my PC, firefox nor IE do not allow me to connect to the internet, but EVERYTHING else does. It was unfixible, I called my ISP, did DNS Flushes, IP Renews, Virus Scans, EVERYTHING. I just fixed it now by doing a System Restore to five days back in Safe Mode. I'm guessing it was a virus, a strong virus, at that. And I have 3+ virus blockers up at any given time... kept me off Firefox or IE for 3 to 4 days, which is why I haven't been on lately.

Anyone have any crazy stories that they've experienced on their PCs?

get a registry cleaner also

any viruses ruin gaming so i use registry cleaner every hour, ccleaner every hour, and 3 virus scans at all times

just bought my computer and were all happy and downloading things like crazy, and ofcoures i havent prepared my computer for the viruses there is.. so i download something that was called "Magic" becuase i thought it was magic petition..so.. yea.. downloaded it.. installed, it was some odd card game.. so i started play it.. seems fun, then when i closed it, i see a pop up.. virus warning.. then.. downloading things pops up.. its downloading viruese to my computer somehow, then i mean TONS, i got like 40 big viruses befor my computer crashed by all the things that was going on.. so i had to reinstall XP and reinstall things.. this time i installed anti virus first

Actually,my Firefox and IE once also kinda locked up or something,i couldnt access the internet at all,yet all the other stuff worked.Its just IE and Firefox that didnt want to open any page just sat there empty.So i restarted the pc and then it did work.I also got Antivirus and spyware up and none registered anything.I dont think it was a virus but....it is weird though.

thats probably your problem.

having multiple anti-virus programs or firewalls running at the same time does not make your computer more protected. in fact it can actually make it more vunerable because the programs conflict with each other not allowing them to function fully which in turn can allow viruses and other baddies through.

my advice find an antivirus you really like and stick with it.

the same thing happened to me last night, only thing that happened was my virus scan was deleted, I couldn't system restore and my E explorer wasn't working.

Dude, that's where I was browsing before I got it! I think that was the problem. Last time I go to that site, it's not the first time I've picked up something there.
