so i posted this on the blizzard forums and didnt even get a decent answer, i hope it goes better here.

currently i am a lvl 43 fire mage, decent attack and such but i feel that since WotLK most of my attacks wich used to deal a huge blow suddenly got weakened dramaticly, pyroblast for one, normally i would do +1k non crit with this one (and cast time is 5 seconds) and suddenly i do about 500-800 dmg non crit, now im looking for a respec to ether arcane or frost

ive heard something about the two but still dont know what to take

-arcane: mana goes down dramaticly fast, but the attacks are very strong
-frost: mana friendly, weaker then fire but keeps enemy's at a distance

prefferably id use it for PvE, PvE/PvP spec is also good

what also bothers me is that i bought pyroblast rank upgrades, does respeccing remove pyroblast completely so that ive spent gold on nothing in a matter of speaking?

you dont

i respecced a few times with my warr when i had the highest mortal strike rank available, and each time i respecced to arms i didnt lose the rank

leveling go as frost when ur 80 pve is fire spec and for pvp is arcane or frost

PVE @ 80 is fire? I dont play a mage but my guilds mages are mainly arcane. And they do about 5k dps+ in raids.

Well I have a 33 mage.. so I don't know much.

Levelling as arcane was pretty O.K. (better mana efficiency)
Then about at level 30 I switched to frost and I loved it

It's fun to play and see crits on frozen targets.

ya but fire mage = 6k+

For leveling there is nothing better then frost, AOE 10+ mobs, frost nova, spam blizzard and tataaa ding ding ding.

mage lvling spec frost best single survival and dmg, don't go for aoe imo since u kill 1 mob in like 2 fb's.

Frost until 70, then go arcane until 80. Reason why is that Northrend mobs seem to have a big resistance, and a lot are immune, to frost attacks.
