Default quick question about animes

im havent been really deep into anime but ive alwyas wanted to start watching a few so i found some tenga toppa gurren lagann episodes (up to 10) and all i can say is that it's awesome but it's just batshit crazy

are all animes like that?

EDIT: also since there are apparently like 24 (?) episodes can anyone suggest an ection or horror anime to watch after TTGL

The answer to this is absolutely not. You can have one show that's like TTGL which is pretty much making fun of its own genre and while doing it justice, and then you can have something like Monster which is through-and-through thriller to the end.

Also, for your edit: see Fullmetal Alchemist. You won't be dissapointed. :>

Never seen that anime. But yes, all anime is batshit crazy.

An anime that deals with very dark themes like murder, racism, child rape, can turn the **** around, and become really cutesy and ridiculous for half an episode.

There is A LOT of fanservice in anime.

90% of anime storylines feature crazy *** and complex metaphysical events, usually near the end.

Not sure what you mean by action, but here are some that may fit the bill: Code Geass, Baccano, NGE (More psychological than action, but still awesome), Elfen Lied (A LOOOOOT of gruesome action), Cowboy Bebop (REALLY REALLY Stylish action).

Well, considering Tenggen Toppa Gurren Laggan is a parody of the older, cartoonie, serious animes, not all anime is like this. Still TTGL was an awsome anime, and it will bring out all of the emotions in you.

I do recommend trying out the anime "Higurashi no Naku koro ni." It's classified as a mystery/horror since the series features many horror elements and leaves most of the explanation up to the view to question until the final sentence is uttered in the last episode of the first season.

Also try Code Geass (not the dubb, anything but the dubb). It features the idea of a single person standing up to the corruption of government only to be tainted by his own power.

Also, try out Paranoia Agent or Serial Experiments Lain. Both are really deep rooted with meaning, and become really twisted, unfortunately, not many people enjoyed these due to how complex the storyline became. Unfortunately, some people don't like it when a story plays around with your thoughts and emotions .. . but I do.

I have more suggestions, but too many to suggest. I recommend posting some specific genres you may enjoy, such as ecchi, sci-fi, satire, slice-of-life, or any others you may find.

edit: Crap, in the time it took me to make this post, everyone beat me to being the first reply.

By the way, Gainax made both FLCL and TTGL. you might want to also try "Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi", also another parody made by Gainax.

Most seasons are around 24 to 26 episodes, as 26 is half of 52, and there are 52 weeks in a year.

Not at all. Elfen Lied and Baccano are both 13 episodes long. Death Note is 36(?) episodes long. Code Geass is about 50 episodes long (2 seasons of 25 episodes). It always varies, and depends on the anime. Usually a SEASON is 24 episodes long, but whether or not a show has multiple seasons is completely dependent on the anime itself.

I'm glad you're watching Code Geass. I hope you enjoy it. It's one of my favorites. The first few episodes were kind of a hurdle (it was hard for me to get into it), but by the end, you care about all the characters so much, and the plot gets batshit insane
