Well, I looked at it myself, and I might be wrong, but in the picture, his left arm was crushed. in the after picture, you can only see his right arm, or atleast that's all I saw.

So, how do we know for sure?

The article Loric posted doesn't prove anything, but it shows that it is more likely that it is a street performance rather than a real punishment.

If you would bother to read it, you would know that it's not just saying "it's no real folks" based on authority; it just shows how there are no authority figures in the picture, but rather a man with a microphone; how Iran doesn't really do punishments like these; how the original person who posted this to the internet said that they were street performers; how street performers often do this trick, and it is a very common trick, and some other things.

Also, generally speaking, the burden of proof is on the claimant, not the challenger. The OP is the one who has to prove itself in the first place. The mythbusting site Loric provided challenges that claim.
