--Signature of the week competition--
This week's theme:Freestyle - feel free to do anything, just don't send in a submission as a wallpaper xD Hello OnRPG! In light of the recent success of KillHannah's Mortal Kombat: GFX Battle 1 and 2, Duo and I have decided to revive SOTW. Also, for all those who don't know, every single time "Kai" is mentioned, It's me. What is SOTW? It's Signature of the Week, of course! It's going to be held every week(obviously) and all submissions must be in on every friday. This competition is for everyone who wants to participate! Just enter for fun, for the hell of it or because you want to win! Of course, don't put your name on your sig because you don't want people knowing who you are until the end :0. Quote:

I'll make a few every once and again.
Here is the new system for voting. Heiarchy Selection System (Yes, I had to give it a fancy name, just for the hell of it) The Heiarchy Selection System (HSS) is a system that I believe will make voting more fair, more accurate, and force the voters to actually critique the images rather than throw a random first place and walk away. How does it work? Let's create a theoretical situation to explain it easily. Let's say that we have 10 entries for a SOTW battle. Voters would proceed to make their votes from "Most Favorite" to "Least Favorite" in this fashion: 1,6,3,8,4,5,9,10,2,7 We will then assign points to the order. Since we have 10 submissions in this theoretical situation, 10 points will be the maximum. And thus, we have this turn out for the above vote: 1 - 10 points 6 - 9 points 3 - 8 points 8 - 7 points 4 - 6 points 5 - 5 points 9 - 4 points 10 - 3 points 2 - 2 points 7 - 1 point This point system will allow for, as previously stated, a more accurate vote. In some cases where a submission doesn't get any votes at all, it does not mean that it was the least favorite of everyone who voted. Also, for people who are split between two or more images, they can do something like the following: 1=6,3,8,4,5,9=10=2,7 The point turn out would then look like this: 1 - 10 points 6 - 10 points 3 - 8 points 8 - 7 points 4 - 6 points 5 - 5 points 9 - 4 points 10 - 4 points 2 - 4 points 7 - 1 point As you can see, the points of equivalent votes are the same as the points of whatever was the highest in the equivalence chain. The other points will remain the same based on their rank. By allowing this, it will not hurt a submission's chance at winning just because someone played spin the bottle with a couple images and voted for a random one, leaving one or more perfectly worthy candidates with nothing at all. I believe that this system will be much more effective in truely deciding who won the competition for the week. We will use it as a test run for the first competition to see if the results bode as favorable in comparison to just a poll. |

I'll talk to Kai, aka [o.o] about it. I would really prefer freestyle myself so that people can create things that they enjoy creating rather than being forced to do a topic they aren't good at. Freestyling also encourages more people to participate since they won't feel restricted. We're working on negotiating a Tie Breaker (not combo breaker, but tie breaker) system right now. |
