I played Ryzom before it went down, a lot. It was always my favorite game. I TRIED to inform people about it, but I think the general-mmo playing population just wasn't experinced enough to recognize the leet-ness of this game. They were still in the cookie-cutter stage of wow-every oriental game-every room based game, that stage what ever you want to call it. And just couldn't recognize the potential this game had because of its sandbox-style. That coupled with the steep learning curve = few new players. People at the time were only accepting games that fed everything to them. And many still do...but I think there are more now that can realize that this causes failure in games; and steep learning curve having games are almost always more rich, fullfilled, and rewarding.
