Default Story based Anime

Alright, so i'm sick of all these stupid shonen animes like naruto and bleach. What are your favourite story driven animes with deep plot lines and character development, but still good action? I'd say mine are cowboy bebop and eureka seven.

Couldn't name an overall favorite but, my most recent favorite would have too be Xam'd(Bones Studio is the sex). Even though the ending tried way to hard to make me cry(Even though I did).

Eureka Seven
One Piece (Emotion manipulation is epic emotion manipulation.)
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Welcome to the NHK
Detective Conan/Case Closed
Paranoia Agent
Hajime no Ippo (Ultra-level character development.)
Ghost in the Shell (Series)
Samurai Champloo

And a lot more; too bad I saw most of them when I was younger and can't really remember too well.

Most of those suck at character development, lol--especially Tales of the Abyss.

Cool, I'm watching Xam'd at the minute. It's good so far but i'm not enjoying it as much as Eureka Seven. Also watching Baccano! which is very interesting. Thanks for the replys.

Not really, some are so so others are decent. OP also said good storyline and pretty much all of em got at least that.

Kenichi and Kekaishi I know for a fact have a real good character development since the MC's go from being *****made to kick ***, plus some interesting things happen in them. Tales of the Abyss has a ok storyline but yeah the characters are a bit bland.
