There are so many split opinions on the matter of shoes in parkour. A lot of people don't really care that much and run in whatever they feel comfortable in. I've heard of a lot of people free-running in converse, and other shoes with thin soles. Some people argue it's good because you have a better feel of the ground.
Some people like the sneakers with thicker and more "bouncy" or "flighty" soles - arguing that it is better for you ancles and your feet, preventing unnecessary strain. However, unless you're doing some extreme hight landing, it's mostly down to preferance. I mean, I know people who run in outdoor ninjutsu tabi. I do parkour in the summer. Nothing to fancy or extreme, just getting from point A to B as fast as possible, because I think it's a practical exercise for both mind and body that is a lot more fun than ordinairy jogging. I do advice you to find a gymnastics hall, or something similar, to practise in, since a lot of the more difficult stunts in freerunning just isn't practical to try outside if you have no experience. I'd also recommend you to buy ancle- and knee-supports to prevent your joints from straining over time. |
