The most immersive and "realistic" game I have played has got to be "Horizons: Empire of Istaria" (Now called "Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted"). The world was basically barren with few npc's and almost everything was in ruins. Quests were few and far in between so the content was almost solely done by the players. Players made all weapons and armor, created their own economy, and plus you could rebuild ruined towns/bridges/etc you came across if you possessed the needed skills. You bought property and could build your house, guild hall, castle, etc or design it and leave money there to pay other people for their abilities and materials to build it for you. The community of the game has been the single greatest gaming experience for me in over 10 years of playing MMORPG's. I actually never met a single rude person in the game in almost a year of playing it.

Too bad the owners did their damndest to kill the game and it's changed hands many times to unsavory people. I hear now it's being reworked decently and moving along thanks to one of the original developers.

Guild Wars 2 is already shaking up the industry and could very well redefine the MMORPG Model and Genre as a whole.

Most Anticipated Upcoming Title: Guild Wars 2
