How long did you let it sit and wait?
Could be what is stated above. Any firewalls of sorts? If so, disable them/unhook the router and directly connect to the internet. Anti-Virus software can also cause a problem like this, so make sure it is all disabled and try again. If not, it is probably your/their ISP or could just be you pick the wrong time to download a patch. Could be a patch server/login server issue. Dont know, but if disabling all software/hardware related to either of the above catagories doesnt work...Well, i have nothing else i can tell ya.
