I am quite curious as to how many other full ToS you have read? Of course aeria out to protect it self, thats what the wall of text is for. Not supporting Aeria, but the OP uses the phrases Aeria has right out of context in ordr to prove a not very strong point. What Aeria has in its ToS is nothing special, nor is it very different from those of other companies. So please, get over yourselves.

I have read enough ToS to know that 5,600 words is exessive and over the years, thousands of signs up later, I find it very tedious and mind numbing to go through every single ToS. I'm making an example out of Aeria because their terms are the most disgusting, power abusing terms I have ever seen. That does not mean Aeria are the only one, I'm speaking from experience.

The out of context stuff is there to prove a point, how the terms within context are grossly subversive. Why are people forced to sign legal documents they don't understand most of the time to play games? The companies know most people won't understand them, legal contracts can be a nightmare to go through. How many 13-18 year olds have legal knowledge? How many of them actually read the ToS? The same goes for the vast majority of players.

I *THINK* it's a guy who got banned, then started winging about it, dissected the aeria games TOS, analyzed it and posted he's findings on a forum.

You got most of that right, except for the whinging part. I followed all the correct procedures to get unbanned and nothing came of it. So I had a look at their monolithic ToS and after finding what I did I will never go back to Aeria. Unless they change their ToS. And only for Turf Battles, if they don't screw it up, which I doubt.

I just read the the terms for EA's BF heroes after recieving my CB key and I have to say, it was a lot shorter, a lot more legitimate and terms I am happy to accept. They even have a section dealing with employees of the government. And EA is a monster corporation, yet their ToS is more fair and explains a lot more about the kind of service they offer. Aeria's terms look like they've been written by several different people, with bad English skills and a bad understanding of the law.

I was joking btw, but yea i agree with you to some extent, it's as if by purpose they wrote it (Or got it written) in such a way that aeria's target market (Teens) would just go at the TOS.

Shit they could have wrote, upon playing our game's you agree that we own your *** and may use it as we please.

So it's identical to Nexon's? Or rather, it's identical to quite a few companies from what I know. Welcome to the world of free MMORPGs, where you not only have no rights, you are only staying if you give them money.

You realize a number of retail outlets do have these terms as well? The management reserves the right to refuse to service to anyone? Welcome to life.

The instant you agree to those terms, it really doesn't matter. Most large business have terms stating that they can amend them at any point in time without any notification(My work, for instance.). Hell, they could change it say that you have to be named Sally or you'll be banned, and knowing Aeria they just might try that.

Strangely enough, Ijji and Alaplaya seem to notify you of changes, at least if it regards something important.

Just because you have to accept/agree to certain terms in a ToS does not make them lawful. Legal and lawful are 2 different things.

If just 1 person took this to a US lawyer, you might see this for yourself.

Nexon's is actually worse. They can claim your computer if they find you hacking.

Here's the thing, you are in no way losing anything other than time, or an account for a game that is provided for free. If you invested money in the game, that is your own choice, and NOT required. Now, let's take Nexon's where they use the scare tactic of saying that hackers have to pay them money, that will not be enforced, and would instantly be destroyed in a court of law. However, the account would still be banned, though these are separate circumstances from your IP issues.
