Hi there, I have played games like endless online, right now I have a text mmorpg but still a friend told me of the idea of starting a new 2d game.
So I would like to know which kind of programming 2d games use and if there is any "beta" code for newbies to learn from. I am good understanding new codes and my friend is a hell of an artist so if I could find a basic 2d code or a tutorial of "how to start your own 2d game" would be awsome. Thanks to everyone and if you know server requeriments that would help a lot too. |

Beta code is generally not advisable at least not IMO. Visual Basics is a very easy language to learn from what I have been told but doesn't seem to allow as much control as other games. If you really want this game to be played by people easily, I suggest you do it in Java. The language is pretty easy to learn as long as you buy or steal a book. There are many Java based books that are programming a game in Java where they assume you are starting with no prior knowledge of any programming language.

I have a huge Java book, still I am not the best with Java I only learn how to do what I need to do, like clocks, counters, refreshs, etc...
Still I know for a fact that Java won't save on a database the same way as it won't keep loading unless you make it with ajax (which I am sure it hates me since even a copy paste from a n00b code has a bug lol) Thanks for that one and I will search for java used into a MMO to see if it can be turned into an RPG while saving everything. |

JavaScript and Java are completely different however JavaScript takes it's context (the way it looks) from Java, so it really wouldn't be that hard. I would search Java Game Making beginner and you can probably find some pretty good books.

Best way to make 2D Games is use one of those RPG Maker systems. They're surprisingly powerful.
