Why do I keep seeing games advertised as 'addictive' like its a good thing?
I mean, a good game will often be addictive, because you like playing it so much, but even in this case, the addiction is not good in itself, just an understandable side effect of a good game. I feel like developers have looked for trends in popular games and found that the good games are addictive and tried to jump on that bandwagon to make a good game that people keep playing, but have entirely missed the point. |

Its just a buzz word, like many other over used phrases. They pick something that has shown to have caught on in the market and they run with it.
Look at that "Sons Of Anarchy" show. That show has nothing to do with "Anarchy", nor do the people ON the show (other than that they are living by their own rules, but thats a stretch). They just picked a word that would grab attention and ran with it. |
