http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2715 I'm having the same problem, however, I get lost at "Usually you should set the recording device and playback device to ALSA(default) This is set in "Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O" But when I got to Audio I/O in Preferences, in the Recording device slot, I don't see any device pre-selected, nor does it show any for me to choose. and as for playback device, I don't see a ALSA choice, nor is it pre-chosen. I only see "Speaker (Realtek High Definiti" and "Microsoft Sound Mapper-Output". I didn't have this problem EVER with my old computer. Everything on my comp sounds fine. However, I can't record while sounds are playing, and I can't while nothing is playing. Some steps I didn't know how to follow, especially since with half the steps I try to follow when doing technical things, I either can't spot something, or something isn't there. So, how do I fix this so I can finally record sounds and music? I'm tired of running into all these technical problems and limits with my new computer. I even called it a "piece of shit" today. It does suck and have a hard time being compatible with things, and it may not just be "OK", but rather a "piece of shit". But I still believe it's GOT to be better than my last computer. But I don't remember running into so many technical problems with things with my last computer. And if there was something it couldn't do because of un-compatibility, I'd right off the bat tell me, or I could google the error message and find out that it isn't compatible with something. It wasn't like this computer where sometimes trying to find out why something isn't working on it or trying to fix problems sometimes feel like trying to solve a cryptic code where I have to follow long steps to solve it. |
