Sometimes depression can be chemical, due to a lack of serotonin in the brain.

Even so, it's still not that easy to just, 'snap out of it.'
If it were, there wouldn't be so many different medications and forms of therapy for it.

More of the world has some form of depression than you might think.

depression is prolly the most misused term for any disorder lol. everyone sad says they have it. but that doesnt mean they dont. u wont understand it unless u experience it. disorders are even defined as intense (powerful and hard to overcome) and irrational (doesnt make any sense to logical thinking). you cant logically think and expect to understand.

but ppl who are truly depressed many times are like vegetables, can sit and stare at a wall for days. they find enjoyment in nothing. they see no reason for living and suicide is a common result. sometimes, there is no reason, its just a feeling that overcomes them literally out of nowhere (serotonin in brain). now not all depressed ppl are this intensely depressed, so dont think anyone who says they are depressed isnt, because they may be. u never kno, its the most common mood disorder.

as for your friend...the way you described him is frighteningly similar to how i look to people.I've been told i look sad in the eyes alot and i rarely smile but when i heard this i didn't think i did because i hide it,but it seems that if you feel sad on the inside it will reflect through your eyes no matter how much you try and hide it.

damn...you have sparked my interest...good job on finally curing you problem and good luck to your friend man.

Damm dude that's some scary shiet.... even reading that made me get the chills man! >.< Seriously man... i knew somebody that commited suicide but i never knew why! He always seemed so happy and was always smiling man, i know forsure i'll never do anything like that, life has so much to give you, why waste it away just like that? :/

Lol yeah, thanks and good luck to you too, i agree on the no matter how sad you are, it'll always reflect through your eyes thing no matter how much you try and hide it
